I have a 1976 Datsun 280Z. I have several paint questions.. Ok, I recently sanded the car down and going to do some minor dent repairs, and then spray primer on the whole car, and then paint it. OK my question is whats the best primer out there for our cars?? Epoxy,Lacquer, Polyester, Urethane Primers ect???? Next, How many gallons will the car take??? What type of paint should I buy?

What I did to get answers to questions about painting was to go to a store here that sells automotive paint. The gentleman in the store was a wealth of information and helped me get a clear picture of what my options were and even gave me a primer on what to do and not do do when painting a car.

Cowl leaf screen

I didn't want to deal with silicon goop of any kind but my plan is to cut screen pieces slightly larger than the holes they are supposed to cover on the inside of the cowl and epoxy those small super strong magnets to strategic areas of the screen where they would fit flat against the underside of the cowl. More than strong enough to hold the screens in place and easily removable to get rid of stubborn leaf debris that might get stuck between the screen edges and the underside of the cowl.
