Went out to the shop, decided to swap hinges on the high side, had a couple extra. Closed the hatch and it was waaay better, to within half a millimeter. Oh wait....I removed the weatherstrip in the corner to remove the hinge. I put the weatherstrip back on and right back where I was, 2 millimeters high. 🤣 Why didn't I do that to begin with? It's the &%$#@$%& aftermarket piece of crap weatherstrip they sell. Let me tell you something, I restored this entire car, sure I had struggles, but nothing compared to the struggle with these aftermarket hatch weatherstrips. Attempt #1: I carefully cleaned the weatherstrip of all residue, even scuffed up the area to be glued and cleaned again. Followed the instructions on that 3M super weatherstrip adhesive, did the corners first, taped it down. Next day, did the straight sections, taped it all down. Waited a couple days. All good right? I was doing something and happened to bump the corner, and it came off. It didn't stick! What? I gently lifted on the a section and it just basically fell off. That's where a 2 day nightmare started. Removing the 3M super weatherstrip adhesive, ☹️ It won't stick to this aftermarket weatherstrip at all, none, but have you ever tried to remove it from paint? Without damaging the paint? It took me 18 hours to get that black nightmare off. The hatch wouldn't close anyway. Every piece of aftermarket rubber I installed on this car with that 3M stuff didn't stick at all. So I cut sections of it up, and tried different adhesives. The best I found was goop. It's clear and it sticks way better. So, I ordered another hatch seal from a different place. Unfortunately it looked the same as the first, with spliced in "thicker bulkier" corner sections. That's the problem, I think, these spliced in sections. And that's where I am today. It really sucks. An old timer once told me, "it's made to sell, not to use".
  3. Done, I think it was your resolution but I was able to pull the menu down a little smaller so it no longer shows "More" thx for the feedback

Thank you for that. Here's a photo of the car when I got it, so I know it can be flush. There are some rub marks on the hinge, like it's hitting something down in there, "interference". I did replace the boots.....

Have a look at this post in this thread. https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55369-1971-hls30-14938-lily-build/?&page=79&_rid=2858#findComment-66409 Charles mentions that his hatch lifts up as a result of the interference he describes.
  6. My two cents. Put the Activity bar on top and move it from the more drop down. New users would not easily know where to go.

It looks like it's 2mm high. Is that is good as it gets? If it is the weatherstrip that's holding it up, why does the other side fit? Those captured nuts seem to be hitting a curved edge and when I tighten the bolts, they move up? I don't know but it's really a puzzler. I guess a guy could enlarge the holes upward on the hinge but would that even do it?

Yeah I never was able to figure mine out. The hatch weatherstripping is pulled down off its flange in the vicinity of the driver side hinge just so the hatch sits flush. It's been a (long) while since I messed with it, but I tried adjusting every single bolt I could. Let us know if you figure something out.

Contact Datsun Spirit. You might even be able to purchase what you need from them.

Hey guys, I'm at the final stages of a 4 year restoration and I can't get my hatch to sit low enough on the drivers side. The alignment is good, just too high. I fought and fought this, and just left it alone. But, I'm running out of things to do, so I'm back to it. I swear it fit good before I put this aftermarket weatherstrip on, but I removed the hatch. I don't know what it is. I remove the tailgate stay. Prop the hatch with a piece of wood. I loosen the drivers side bolts, loosen the left side of the right hinge a little, then barely loosen the right bolt of the right hinge, just so it stays. I can push down the left hinge a bit, but when I tighten the bolts there, it creeps back up. Am I doing this wrong? Here's the passenger side.
  12. Yes, you can mostly thank the EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA)... We don't need to follow HIPPA since we are not storing healthcare information. Fun, right? 😵‍💫

  14. Thanks Guys, ya CanTechZ I saw the note, thanks again. I had a hell of a time with my first set on installation but that was definitely a "me" thing so Chris was super kind to send me a replacement of the rubber side. I will definitely have a second set of hands with me to preserve the integrity of the the 90 degree joint, plus I'll move the car into the driveway for way more space. I'm really looking forward to installing these seals, and I also have an S30 fuel tank to install as when I restored mine, I have always felt there is powder coat inside the tank that continually fills my filters way too soon so I went nuclear with one of their reproduction tanks. It looks really nice, too. Cheers

Hello All, Trying to find a set of valve guides for my p79 head. Are the intake and exhaust side interchangeable? I'm finding conflicting results, where they state it's for both sides and some vendors selling the intake and exhaust sides seperately.
  17. Fixed, thank you!
  18. I have done mine although my door hardware is not complete yet. But they are very nice and soft and latch like factory weatherstrips

@Mike it looks like you might have accidentally opened up the forum to all comers. This is Zed Head. I don't think that Guest mode was available before. Don't know who Mud dojjer is. Somewhat ironically, the click problem is still there. Oh well. Good luck with it, appreciate your work.
  20. Just sent you a PM back, Haven't done mine yet. Hopefully there will be some nice warm weather in May.

So I'm signed out and can participate helping others but signed in I have to AGREE before I can do anything? I blew it off when I read something about the HIPPA laws. The fine print isn't small enough.
  22. Any progress on your installation? I sent you a pm too...cheers!
  23. I split this to a new thread because it was hijacking the intent of my original post. But, I will look for the code to see what changed. HybridZ is using the same software (thanks to yours truly) but they are still on the old version. They will likely update that site. I suspect there is a cookie policy change for guests, meaning the new 'internet' GDPR rules won't allow us to store cookies until someone accepts the terms and conditions. The old software did this without requiring strict acceptance. In order for the system to know where you left off, a cookie must be stored on your computer. Otherwise it has no idea who you are and where you were at during the last visit.
  24. Without it, a person has to find the place to click and click multiple times, plus scrolling to the bottom of the page, to get to the new post at the end of a multi-page thread. Going to the first post of a three page thread is pointless if you've already seen the three pages. If you're on a "phone" it's swipe swipe swipe, touch, swipe swipe swipe. It's why the software developers created the "X hours ago" link. That is its purpose. Go directly to the new stuff. It's odd that it doesn't work on CZCC. You were using the same platform as Hybridz. You can jog over there and check it out. https://forums.hybridz.org/discover/
  25. The only option that guests can click is "Topics Last 24 Hours" which is shown here. When I click on a forum post in that list, it does look like the link takes me to the first post in the thread. I'll have to do some digging into the code to see what changed and provide a possible fix. Why do you think this is an important feature?

  28. Click on X hours ago - go to post that happened X hours ago Click on title of thread - go to first post in thread This how most other forums work, across the internet. This is how CZCC used to work, logged in or not. We've all become used to this format. Something changed when you started customizing.
  29. What do you think it should do?
  30. Just stopped by the site not logged in to see what's up. Clicked on the "1hour ago" link, took me to the first post in an 18 reply thread, clicked on the "18 replies", took me to the first post in an 18 reply thread. This is most likely the major factor in the big drop off in activity. You can see from the main page that most people don't stay logged in. There's only five signed in right now. But 135 others (don't really know what that last one means) who also can't easily get to the new stuff. Just trying to help. You can try to change the behavior of the masses or you can make the site easier to use for them. Carry on...
