This is not a daily driver and use it only when one of the other cars needs to be serviced, so it sit most of the time. I have a few things that have stopped working, the wipers, radio and fan motor. I have checked the vacuum lines and fuses and all are ok. i am not sure where to start looking for the problem

When my car sits out in the sun for too long, it will crank but not fire, I hooked up a timing light and it would not flash so I know it is a lack of spark, Ignition coil is new, distributor and alternator are both new upgrades/swap (new 280zx parts wired in) so the ignition module and voltage regulators are both good, when the car cools down (the interior) it will start just fine. Any Ideas? (My only guess is a random separating connection or dieing ECU) 76 280z

Higuys, ox I was at the JY getting an Altima relay box, and I noticed that the battery cables didn't have the usual thick lead battery post clamps. It had a kind of round strap. Further, the one I saw had a knurled nut and a kind of a black plastic quick-release handle! I thought it was really cool looking and would be nice if you remove your battery every fall (no more stripped clamps and no wrench needed.) Both of the clamps also had two taps for extra, smaller wires (two on the negative and two on the positive) that you could remove by pressing a release button, which would be nice for those headlamp relays, radiator fans, or what-not. The negative cable has gro…

First off, everything else electrical works on my car and the system has never been messed with at all. The only additions I've done to the car have been Dave's harness upgrades. My problem is both rear turn signals are not working. I've tried to trouble shoot them and I'm by no means a wiring guru. No luck so far. Would a bad rear chassis ground cause this? Any thoughts???

I installed a sound system in my Z this past weekend. Went with JVC head unit, 4's in the door and 6.5's in the rear. What's interesting is the subwoofer I found to give it some much needed bass. This unit will fit in your wheel well with no mods needed. Packs a good punch and comes with an amp built in the box. Kicker 11HS8 Hideaway? compact powered subwoofer: 150 watts and an 8" sub at Crutchfield.com You can lay the spare tire pressboard cover over the wheel well, and with carpet on top its nice and flat. Easy to install, only drawback is you have to get rid of the spare tire. That's more weight anyway!

Hello all, I have been reading up on the pros and cons of the various electronic ignition upgrades available for my stock 1972 240Z and I am leaning towards the Crane Cams XR-3000. I checked Summit Racing and noticed that there are 2 different part numbers. Can someone please confirm whether the 3000-0231 is the one I should buy if I want to do this upgrade.

Okay, my situation is this. I got original antenna when i bought the car but the mast was busted. Now i've purchased another motor antenna with mast on, BUT they are different (see the picture) Will both fit in 240Z? AND will the mast from the left one fit to the right one? There is a problem here, left one has pristine mast but engine seems to be busted, it sounds like " wank wank wank" when the other sounds "buzzzzzzzz" What should i do?

Does everybody's stock turn signals blink faster than most cars? Mine is faster on the tach gauge than the blinkers themselves. My Dad says older cars are like that but he spells Datsun with an "O". They work fine just faster than I'm used to, like there's a blown bulb. Just curious.

As an alternative to the pricey oem-style power antenna, I figured out a switch wiring setup to operate a newer automatic antenna (it goes when the radio is turned on, and down then the radio is turned off) to work using the wiring available in a 280Z. Below is the switch diagram I figure to use, which requires a DPDT, center-off momentary toggle switch and two of the three wires. The red wire is the main power wire to the antenna, and the blue wire goes to the radio's power antenna connection. Ground on the antenna goes to the chassis of course. I will figure out a relay setup using two wires and the factory antenna switch ( SPDT center-off momentary.) thxZ

I just finished resolving a short on fuse #3 (turn signals and gauges), but i am still showing a constant 1 volt drop on that circuit. I've done continuity tests and checked resistance on every segment that I can identify, and the problem appears to lie somewhere between Connector 3 and Fuse 3. Otherwise, everything appears to be functioning normally. Can I safely ignore the voltage drop, or do I need to keep digging? thanks, tony

My turn signals and exterior lights all work great, except the green signal arrows in the tach are reversed. Any suggestions? My tach is also intermittent. Related? '73 240z
