See car info at bottom for specs that may affect wiring. Car is currently at Whitehead Performance in Toronto, waiting for a new Mallory Ignition Sensor for the distributor. It really needs to be running while I'm working on it, and I'm only willing to make the tow once. For those interested, Whitehead Performance also has described a solution for the famous door-adjustment issue; apparently re-shimming the hinges works well. I spent a lot of time re-wiring the engine bay two summers ago. Much better now. Vintage Connections with proper tools and heatshrink used throughout. Everything cumulates into that port in the firewall under the passenger's feet…

Ladies and Gents This morning I was looking up a few electrical things about the Z and stubled upon this. Has anyone done this? I don't mind using the stock set up I just find that this looks a bit nicer and makes it easier to figure out if the fusible links are the problem. Any suggestions, commnets etc welcomed Thanks Jan

For anyone with a lightly driven car or one that is stored for extended periods such as winter months, here is a great maintainer for the battery. My wife's late model car is lightly driven - 20k miles in 6 years. When the onboard vampires killed the battery and the dealer replaced it under warranty, they said either drive it more or get a maintainer. I bought this one and no more problems; the Z now has its own unit also. The multiple connectors are a really nice feature. This item is usually in stock at local Sears stores. Am working on balancing my SUs and after reinstalling in the car am having electrical issues (I guess). The car starts fine and then just dies. I notice the car idles fine and then the tach drops to zero and the car dies. Have not had this issue before. Have electronic ignition (E12-80) and using a Blaster coil. Seems like something electrical is causing it to die, not the carbs. Any thoughts?

I just finished a blog post on some electrical basics and troubleshooting. The first topic is the phantom draw on the battery. I plan on breaking down the circuits for the 240Z like the FSM has for the 260Z and 280Z to help people with their diagnostics in the future. Feel free to comment & critique. Some Electrical Basics and Troubleshooting

I am hoping some one can save me a lot of time!! I have a 1977 280 that has never been modified. No re-wiring, no engine swaps, etc. It only has 47k miles on it and was owned by a car collector who kept it in a climate controlled garage. What I am trying to say is that the car has not been patched together. It has only been worked on by certified mechanics and has basically lived the equivalent of the life of luxury for a car!! Here is my problem..... Night running lights did not come on but headlights did. Even though the fuse looked fine I changed the fuse anyway and the running lights came on. Then a couple of days later I turned on the lights and they did not …
