It's a little unnerving to have the starter still engaged when the car is running. I have to force the switch back to the run position. I've been searching and coming up short. I found some posts refering to the back of the switch needing replaced and also lubrication thru the key hole. Anyone want to share their experience with this with their solution? links to other threads!! thanks

I've gathered everything I need to make my carbed L 28 swap go smoothly. The only thing I'm a little confused about is the fuel pump. My car is a '71. I purchased the Carter in line pump per recommendations here. I did locate the green wire near my fuel tank so I can easily hook up the power for the pump. There is a brown wire there as well which I can't locate in any of the wiring diagrams as to what it's for. Anyone know what the brown wire is? Also, do I need to add a relay for this or would there already be one somewhere I'm not finding?

Hi all, I noticed today that I hear a relay click when I switch on the parking lights in my 70 240Z. Is that something the previous owner installed? I don't remember hearing a relay click when turning on the parking lights with the 71 240Z I had years ago. I have had my car 4 years and just noticed this click today. Mike

My fan has stopped working in my 72 240Z. All the fuses that I can find look fine, but I am wondering if I am missing an in-line fuse somewhere. I do have the fan switch removed (whew!) and was wondering if there was a way to test it with a multimeter. It has a plug with 6 wires attached to it (black, red, white in one row and green, white and blue in another row). Thanks for your input and have an excellent Thanksgiving!

I have a 72 240Z. I thought I had a fuel starvation problem. I've installed a new mechanical fuel pump. Blown out all lines, Removed the gas tank and had it refurbished by a professional, replaced all hoses and made sure there are no restriction in the lines. I just installed an electric fuel pump near the fuel tank. I have not field tested the electric pump while driving as of yet. I'm waiting for a replacement fuel indicator. Here is my question what else could be causing the problem? The distributor has been replaces with a newer electronic distributor. My Son did this and I believe it was from a 260Z. The car also has a MSD ignition system and Coil. On level ground t…

Hey all So I had an instance a while ago where the car wouldnt start, fuel pump wasn't getting power. That's when I saw the fuse box with wires in fuses. Touched a wire, heard a short, and the pump came on. Gotta check that. I replaced the injectors to fix a fuel leak and yesterday didn't start. Battery was low (being charged). Well today I got around to looking at the fuse box and followed the cables. All of them run to the radio and an amp in the back, courtesy of the PO. I don't care for these things right now I just everything ok. There's also a cable from the battery to the amp and another may be going to the fuse box. Would taking all these things out fix it? Let m…

After a clutch renewal on my 4 speed 72 240z, i had a friend install my starter while i worked on the driveshaft, upon completion, and everything was assumed to be hooked up correctly, i hooked up the battery to go and try out the new clutch. as i walked to the drivers side, i noticed quite a bit of smoke and immediately removed the negative lead. Turns out, he had installed the negative lead to the starter solenoid and the positive to the block, dumbass.... so the other wire that leads to the starter solenoid (its yellow for me) fried up a bit, so i replaced the foot long section that was burnt. i go back to my car, and nothing. not a peep, no clock, no lights, no radio…

I'm trying to install a power antenna on a 71. I can't figure out how the bottom of the antenna attaches to the car. I am missing the bracket, but I would make one if I had a clue how the antenna is positioned in the quarter panel. I have searched and found some pics of power antennas with the brackets attached, but still having a problem picturing how it is installed.

When Installing my triple webers, I ordered a lot of parts. I mean a lot. Not all of them were as researched as others. At times this means I had a few 'extra' parts laying around that I may find a use for some day. Maybe not. Anyway, one of the parts I received was of course an electric fuel pump. This is the beast I ordered as it was used by others and seemed to fit the bill for pressure: Well as much fuel as this pump put out, it put out exponentially more SOUND.. think fire alarm loud, think chainsaw, think electric engraver loud! I installed the rubber isolators like it suggested and even put a thin piece of rubber gasket material in between the bracket and t…

I have a 72 Datsun 240Z with an Ignitor. I installed it as per the instructions. It runs great, but the tach will not work, any suggestions? Works great with points. I understand that the tach is a "current sensor" type, unlike most aftermarket units which operate off a signal from the negative side of the coil. I put the old coil back in (current coil is a Petronix), started the motor, tach went to 1,000 and then it dropped back to "0".
