I am having electrical problems with my 1971 240z. When I turn the headlights on both signal lights start to dimly glow. The electrical system is fairly stock. I've cleaned up the contacts on both the turn switch and the headlight switch. Has anyone seen this sort of thing before?

Recently i have noticed an issue with my idle. when i turn the headlights on it gets very rough. The in dash voltmeter reads a little over 12 without them on, and goes to 12 when on. Two days ago i noticed the voltage was getting lower and lower as i was driving down the road until the car died. I replaced the battery and the alternator and the voltage still seems low. Is there a component i am missing? The only thing that has changed since i noticed the issue was i removed the cars after market cd player which no longer worked.

Instead of plugging the carb heat line, has anyone installed an electric fan on/off switch in the thermostat housing. Got this photo from the ZTherapy thread.. That would be pretty slick place to put a thermo-switch. I bet someone has thought of this and figured out what works. Anyone?

Working on a friends car (1973 240-Z) and trying to figure out why we can not get the heater fan to run with the OEM switch. The fan has not worked for about three years. A year ago he took the fan out and wired it direct to the battery to test it and it ran fine. That led him to assume the switch was the culprit. I had an extra switch, which we tried with no success. I'm wondering if there is anything between the fan and the switch that we may be missing. Of course both fan switches could be bad but the odds are at least one would be working. Is there an easy way to verify the switch is good? Any other thoughts regarding things to check.

My power antenna worked fine when I bought the car but when I set it up for the suspension refreshing I put the antenna down, now it will not go back up. The motor works, in either direction. I was going to just jump into it, but wanted to check with the experts first in case it is always the sample problem...

As a rookie Z owner/project starter...today I purchased a new battery, brought it home, put it in, and there is no power in the car when the key is turned. We are currently trying to troubleshoot it.....but any help would be much appreciated. I have no intentions of trying to start the car today, just wanted to see if there were any electrical "issues" and there may be.

I have 2 white wires with bullet connectors coming out the top of the fuel injection harness under the kick panel just inside the door jamb) that I can't identify and don't seem to have anything to plug them into. I also have a stray black wire coming in from the engine compartment (in with the main harness) on the passenger side with no apparent connection. Also...... I have a wire coming off the water temp switch (I think) that has a round eyelet to go under a bolt that I cant' figure out where it goes. I have searched the FSM and the fuel injection supplement and have yet to find the answers. Thanks for any help. I'm in the final stages of reassembly on this car a…

Hey everyone!....I tried the upgrade using the connections below and a 94 honda motor. It worked but the wipers were going down and parking in the full up postion. That is when I got stupid and switched two wires on the relay. I think it was 85 and 30. anyway now I have nothing. I have the FSM and two manuals but I can't find why I am not getting power at the motor connector or the wiper amp. I did some basic troubleshooting. First I checked the fuse and it is good. Then I disconnected the negative on battery and did some continuity checks on the combo switch as per FSM, that checked out. Next I checked the continuity on the motor connector. Black to frame grou…

I have a 73Z with the orginal radio. As you know it only has one speaker hooked up in the back. I was wondering if I can hook a 2nd speaker up to the radio. I want to add a 2nd speaker in the back on the other side. Will this work and how would I wire it? I don't want to add a different sound system just the 2nd speaker.

The intermediate wiring harness for the blower switch has a small connector that is not identified in the Supplemental FSM. The connector has provisions for 3 pins but has only two wires - red and blue. I'm referring to page 26 of the '71 Supplemental FSM. As I reconnect my electrical system, I'm trying to ensure there are no orphans. I did not mark this connector back when I tore it down, so it may have been unused at that time. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim
