71 240z resto had bare corroded wires where the fuel sender connectors were supposed to be. Here is the quick and dirty solution: Step 1: Pillage the 280z 2+2 wiring harness that I bought from Jim Karst many moons ago (THANKS JIM) Step 2: Prepare to solder. Here are the pillaged parts: - black wire with bullet connector - yellow wire with bullet connector - rubber boots for the solder tails Step 3: Solder the leads: note: - the yellow lead carries the voltage and attaches to the pin with the elevated stand off (insulator) - the black lead is the return and is at ground potential. (not insulated and connected to the metal cover) …

I was dealing with corrosion in the 40 year old harness at the fuel sender connector (lack thereof). When I removed insulation to expose copper, it was clear that moisture had entered the harness and seeped in. Rather than replace a large piece, I simply used steel wool to remove the corroded outer layer to expose copper that was suitable for soldering. Fortunatley the copper was not brittle and had a reasonably flexible core. Wires on left are the 240z harness leads to the fuel sender. The wires on the right and scavanged wires with connectors that I wish to connect to the harness. Note the different colours of the exposed copper. Here are the same wires after a li…

Hey I was wondering if having no continuity on the air regulator would be the reason why no power is going to the fuel pump which comes afterwards, also would that affect the injectors also? because they dont fire when I use an external power source on it. the injectors have power, the fuel pump works, the relay clicks, but no continuity on air regulator.

hello, i searched online and couldn't find anything that could answer my question... i have a 73 240z and recently placed a front air dam off a 74 260z, so now my front parking lights won't fit... im having trouble trying to find 260z front parking lights (the ones that are located by the grill) so i went to my local autoparts store and got some rectangular shaped amber lights... the only problem is those new amber lights i got only have 2 wires, and original has 3 wires... does anyone know how to re-wire my new bulbs so they're on when my headlights are on and also blink when i signal... thank you

I have been adding wires to the starter motor pos. (+) terminal/bold to run power to a power inverter, and I might add some extra lamps or headlamp relays to the front end, and you can barely get the nut on that starter terminal bolt now, so I think it would be better to have some kind of power distribution point near the battery? Some ideas I thought of are to grab a small underhood fusebox from a small modern car or to add a terminal block to the fender near the alternator. What options are there that would be appropriate for the S30? I'll add that the positive battery clamp has a pigtail on it that is already in use, so I think I would add an eye terminal to go to …

I am getting the final preparations to putting the dash back in my car and have found a set of wires I cannot identify. I have a color wiring diagram and I cannot find it among all the other wires? It appears to be a source of power but I am not sure for what. The wires are red with a blue stripe. Thanks! Carl

I have a 1973 240z and it wasn't getting any gas, so I blew the fuel lines and cleaned the tank then I bought a new fuel pump and connected it. My problem is that the pump is not getting enough power. I measured how much electricity the pump is getting and it was only 0.04 volts. So I traced all the wiring that goes to the pump and I think I found the problem. the wire that I think powers the pump is connected to a relay on the passengers side. the power going in is 11.08 volts but the other three wires that go to or are coming out of the relay only have 0.03 volts. is this normal?when I test them I have the key on the ON position. how many volts should be comi…

Greetings all I have a stock 75 280z. Electronic ignition. When I try to use my digital multimeter (set to 6 cylinder) to set my rpm. After I connect ONE meter wire to the coil I get a rpm reading but as soon as I hook the other to a ground, the meter zeros out. If I hold it close to coil I get a reading, but as soon as it touches metal it goes to zero.Reading varies by how close I hold meter ground wire to coil or metal. Doesn't seem to make a difference on what meter wire configuration I use. Been fixing cars for 40 years never ran across this before, searched google, searched here and other z sites. Must not be using right search phrase. I'm stumped! any ideas why it…

1976 280z: I've just replaced my starter and for fome reason it won't crank anymore. I've narrowed it down to my "excite" wire on the solenoid. I've rigged a switch connecting the + battery to the male connector on the solenoid spade, so I turn the key and flip the switch for a second or two and presto! It's a bit annoying and probably not very safe. Where does the excite wire lead to? I see it going into a mess of other wires that are all electric-tapped together. But I'd like to know if anyone could tell me where it ends up before I start taking everything apart.
