Hi, I've got a 78 280z and both the thremotime and water temp sensor connectors pretty much turned to dust, I haven't been able to find any cars to pull these off of, any ideas where I can get replacements for these? Thanks

Hi all, I was able to get her running for the first time this weekend - WooHoo!!! '83 2.8L ZX engine and 5 speed, new Z-Therapy carbs, stainless header, yada, yada... Here are a couple of shots: Anyway - Done gloating. Here is the electrical issue that I have. Electrical issues ARE NOT my strong point! I have installed the ZX alternator, dizzy (with Dave's plug-n-play diode - tach is working fine). I am just afraid that I might have missed something during the alternator swap. Car will run fine with White/Red alternator wire disconnected, but obviously this wire needs to be hooked up (I assume no charging is being done without it). When I hook the White/Red …

We were working on the LeMons '74.5 260Z today, trying to start it for the first time in 15 years. A PO messed with or removed nearly every system on the car, so consider it a basket case. After installing 3 screw SUs and tons of stuff that had been removed or hacked, we were ready to start it. After not getting anything, I checked the timing. With the #1 cylinder at TDC, the distributer rotor was not pointed to 9 o:clock, but rather at 7 o:clock. I pulled the distributor to check the shaft position and it was dead on 11:25. I turned the engine until the rotor did point at the #1 plug and it was way off 11:25. I had to pull all the wires and index them one hole cou…

I am planning on trying to rebuild my wiring harness this fall and have some questions. My books are with the car at the body shop but what gauge of wire is used? If I end up upgrading the alternator and the headlights, should I use a heavier gauge or just a good quality wire that isn't 39 years old. Fortunately, I have 2 complete harnesses so if I screw one up I have another to fall back on. Thanks for any input. carl

First and foremost, I have searched multiple forums and believe I do in fact have the correct dashboard wiring harness, but due to the multiple part number changes, I thought I would confirm with the community before embarking on the dash removal Background: Last night I went to replace the gas gauge in my 6/70 Z. To my dismay and utter disappointment, the dashboard wiring harness currently in the car has been butchered and all the wires have been spliced together. Everything works except the gas gauge and all the radio connections are destroyed. i want to install the original radio when I replace the gauge, so installing the new harness is the only solution. Solution…

Almost done with my 73 resto. Everything electrical is now in working condition. Can get the hazard flashers to work. All connections triple checked and cleaned. Dash hazard switch also cleaned and does look in good working condition. Any suggestions ? Any such thing as generic hazard relay (the one by passenger side) ?

HI, This is my first post here. I have a 1972 240Z. It's story from my attaining it is chronicled here --> Linkhttp://www.cardomain.com/ride/2977492 The car has been at the mechanics, a Specialty Z Shop, since around Thanksgiving. The car has had a new engine installed and just about everything else one could think of mechanically, has been replaced. The car won't rev past 4K. Carbs have been swapped, fuel system bypassed(for testing) coil, distributor,points/pertronix, all have been changed out, even the tach. Wires to and from the coil and distro have been checked/replaced. My Q: Has anyone experienced this problem before? Follow -up Q: What was done to correct it?…

Hi all, I am finally making good progress on the 240 and am VERY close to firing it up for the first time. I have done a lot of searches, but this simple issue eludes me. I have installed an aluminum radiator with electric fans. I have a thermostat control switch with a relay for the fans. There is a constant power source to the fans directly from the battery, but there is also a lead that needs to be attached to an ignition based power source. Here is the dumb question: Where can I find an ignition power source? There are no extra connector points on the fuse block (all of my old cars have had 12v spade terminals available). Just the basic glass fuses. I have added…

So I have a little problem I cant turn on my headlights on my 71 z. If I remember correctly I used to be able to fiddle with the light switch on and off and eventually the lights would come on. This was about a year ago. I have since gone away to school. At some point when I was back I realized that the "on and off until the lights come on" tactic no longer worked. I found a blown fuze to be the issue. I replaced the fuse but as soon as i turned the ignition to acc the second fuse down on the right blows(I cant remember if that matches with the left or right headlight at the moment). Anyway, I followed the wires as best as I could, and didnt find any damage or short…

Everything was working fine on my 70 Z, until we were taking it off the dyno the other day. Now, the rear tail lights don't work when the headlight switch is activated, brake lights don't work when I hit the brakes, but the front parking lights and instrument lights come on when I hit the brakes!! I would appreciate any ideas you guys might suggest. Thanks Guy
