Hey Z crowd. I just pick up a beautiful dust blue '76 Z last week and already have a dozen parts coming to clean her up (new carpet, power window kit, etc). I have an MSD 6AL controller and Blaster 2 coil from a Chevy 383 stroker that I'm no longer using and figured, why not, throw it in the Z. My research has brought me to understand that I need a tach adapter to make the 5v square wave from the MSD work with the 12v sine(?) wave needed for the tach and fuel injection of the Z. The adapter MSD forums suggested was the 8910. They have about $50 for it. Thing is, if I could get a schematic for the adapter, or a similar circuit, I could simply build my own. I've noti…

Has anyone seen advertised anywhere a replacement fuse panel that will work with a '76 280Z, and uses modern blade-type fuses instead of the old glass ones? My existing panel has a badly melted cover (the previous owner took some liberties with how to provide power for accessories he added), and all the writing is in Japanese anyhow, so I don't know what circuit does what. I've seen blade-type fuse panels for the 240Z up to '73 on the MSA site, but nothing for newer Z cars.

A couple of months ago, I drove my 73 240Z to the Mitty. A couple of days later, I got in it to drive again, but it acted dead. Nothing happened when I turned the key except for hearing the accessory relay click. I tried the headlights, and they were dead, too. I finally got around to tracking down the problem. I have 12 volts at the starter. I have 12 V at the alternator. I measured the White with Red stripe wire at the fusebox. It was 12 V. I had my nephew turn the key to accessory, and the voltage drops to 0. I unplugged the accessory relay, and I had voltage when I turned the key, but it dropped to 0 V when I turned the key to the ON position. I am strongly suspecting…

My air conditioner only blows hot air. Contol panel is set to AC, but no cold air -- and I don't hear the compressor kick in. The car's air conditioner control panel was replaced about a year ago (apparently it was the last OEM unit left in the US). There are no blown fuses. Today I had the cooling system checked out by professionals and it passed all tests -- freon pressure is good, and the compressor comes on when given power from battery. Any ideas?

I just picked up a 73 for parts. Kinda hit the jackpot. At some point in its life it threw the timing chain and the PO replaced the e88 head with an e31:D and I also ended up with a complete front clip, only surface rust and a grapefruit alternator!!!! Plus some other parts that I will probably sell to recoupe the $200.00 I got into the parts car. While stripping I found a perfect, un-melted fuse block mounted in the typical spot. I removed it with the pig tail in tact and started looking at my series 1 fuse block. I noticed that one of the fuse contacts on my series 1 fuse block was melted and the fuse didnt quite sit firmly in it. My question is this: They look …

A while back I did a 280ZX dizzy conversion and everything works great. Bypassed the resistor, added a wire from the C terminal on the IGN module to the (-) terminal of the coil. Fantastic. Thing ran great. Still does, however.. While prepping for the addition of an MSD 6AL, I was doing some continuity and voltage tests of the two BW wires that run to the now missing ballast resistor and the (+) coil terminal, I found that both wires have 12+ volts when the IGN is in the OFF position, 12+ volts in the ACC position, <1 volt in the ON position, and <1 volt in the START position. Based on this the coil would be getting less than 1 volt when starting and when running. H…
