On the back of my spedometer is some device installed, it looks as a relay, can someone please explain to me what it is. One of the wires that connet to that device goes to the face disc, i wonder why, i'm about to swap in a km/h spedo from a Fairlady, i need to use the old housing, being that the Fairlady housing is the later type, out from the back of the Fairlady spedometer is two wires, one to the face disc and the other to ? and what is that suppose to be good for. So I have decided to buy up some gauges for my 1975 280Z SR20det project. Prosport 52mm tinted glass gauges: Air fuel Boost Fuel Press Oil Pressure Oil Temp Water Temp Volt (maybe)Exhaust temp AM I FORGETTING ANY? 5" Cobalt Autometer Speedo and Tach One thing I am considering doing is just putting 3 of the gauges in the stock location, then affix the rest to the top of the dash like in the first picture. The dash is in pretty bad condition, and I am going to be doing a custom fiberglass dash project which will be wrapped professionally in suede. At that point I will conceal the gauges better, but for now I think im gonna go "drift" style. It comes priced o…

Please help, my son tore this 76 280z down for a school project. Am in the final stages of putting back together. Installing new radio, and tried checking the electrical. The car starts, the headlights work but not the dash lights, or tail lights, or the windshield wipers or blinkers or radio. Have replaced all the fuses and still no luck. I need a wiring harness diagram for dash if anyone can find one and any other advice I can get. Electrical stuff is definitely not my strong suit. Getting rusty in Seattle, Roundy:mad:

Ok, I've done a bunch of searching with no results on exactly what i'm trying to do. I want to run my new fuel pump off the battery and to an interoir switch. I have plenty of 10 gauge and 12 gauge wire, a few 30 amp inline fuse boxes, 30 amp fuses, a 40 amp 4 peg relay, several led 30 amp switches, and 1 new low pressure fuel pump. Do I need anything else? I just need to know the order of the wiring. Do I just go from the battery, to the fuse, then relay, switch, then out to fuel pump? I figure, if it's on a switch, then I could cut it from power at any time in the case of an emergency.

Hey everybody, I was wondering if there's a noticeable difference in performance between the electronic ignition of the early '74 260Z, and the E12-80 of the later model Z's. But I guess my real question is: would it be worth it to get a ZX distributor with the E12-80 for my early '74?

Okay, i'm being lazy here, i haven't searches that much and i'm in need of a answer form the electrical brains. First a short summary When i got my car ready for approval, there was no head light on it, it came down to a loose wire at the combo swich, i soldered the wire back on and all lights worked. After my car came back from a trip to the painter, there is not any lights on when the light swich is at position #1 when i turn to position #2 the head lights come on but nothing else. I found a red/blue wire un insulated hitting the stearing columm, being the cover isn't on at this moment i guess the painter or i must have hit it with a knee, i have checked the fuses and a…

Hi, I've got my dash off and have fixed my crack. Before I put it back in, I'd like to install this keyless entry, car alarm system I bought. It has a relay for a starter disconnect. I've been hunting through posts for ideas on how to wire this thing up without hacking my wiring harness up too much. The car is a 1973. All I need to do is place the relay inline with either the starter solenoid, or the coil wire. I believe it would be easier to install by breaking into either the BW or GW wire on the tach. Since the dash is out, I have easy access to install this little relay close to the tach for a nice clean installation. I also think that cutting power to the c…

Is there a definitive guide, anywhere, on how to rebuild/clean the T/S Hi/Lo-beam switch? My highbeams have never worked (lights would just go off), but now the lights (regular beams) have decided to click off just about every time I signal. If I wiggle the stock, or click on/off repeated, quickly, I can get the lights to come back ... OR if I bang on the bottom of the steering column. So I can only assume there's a connection (or surface) somewhere along the line that's gone bad ... question is, how do I go about taking this stuff apart so I can try to clean it up? I'm just worried it's a matter of time before I get a ticket for this ...

replaced the fusebox in my '73 with the MSA upgraded one. There was the infamous extra wire plugged in to the back of my old fusebox on the lower left hand side. (Pic attached). This wire was run through the middle back of the fusebox and screwed onto the back of it. (Pic attached) Any ideas what this wire was for? Do I need to put the old fusebox back in? Is there a workaround for whatever this was for?
