I have two questions that you guys no doubt can help me with: Car: 1972 240Z 1. How does the wiring harness get routed inside the the car on the passenger side ? Is it routed through the rocker ? The car has been gutted except for the dash. I am looking for strategy for co-existence with the sound deadener. 2. Does anybody have experience with the Gas Tank sending unit electrical connectors ? The 240 has a T shaped connect post on the sending unit. The rubber around the connector is old an stiff. How do you get the connector re-attached to the sending unit ? Thanks, Jay Not just a Z - zdisease

Evening all and happy new year . A year to the date on new years eve I started up my 71 240 after putting back all the required parts . Man did it ever sound nice after a year of sleeping , although I did have to pull the battery out of my Pathfinder to get her up and running . My question is what is the recommended battery cranking amperage that I should be looking for when I go to purchase new this weekend as well as thoughts on maintenance free verses the old standard type Thanxz Chris

My apologies if this has already been covered. My 78 280's display lights and tail lamps went out the other night. So I changed the fuse and all was well. Then it happened again! I changed the fuse again and all seem OK again. Yet, a third time the lights have gone out. These old fuses that I keep replacing look really burnt out.....more than the usual warping and such. I suppose this means I've got a short somewhere in my system. Any suggestions?

I did the alternator upgrade on my 1971 240z which eliminates the Voltage Regulator. The upgrade is on this site from Bambikiller and is posted on another site with pictures. The problem, with the Light switch on I have no side lights or brake lights until the motor is running. Yes I did the Headlight Switch cleanout procedure and its beautiful in there now. Any ideas??

My amp meter has been pegged off scale high since I bought the car, however, the fuel guage works fine, if not a little sticky. I have downloaded the factory service manual for the electrical portion, but all it says is ensure alternator is working properly...Which I am sure it is.. is there a simple test. I have a spare gage I can swap in, should I swap it out for my test, or is there something I can do before removing it.

This morning when I turned on my running lights (right after starting the engine) I noticed that they were flickering along with my instrument lights. The car ran as normal and after driving for a few miles the flckering settled down and went away. The car is a 71 daily driver with no previous issues like this. I have a new alternator and new battery. Any ideas? Thanks.

My speedo and battery charge gauge work fine. The Tach, fuel, oil dont work. Does this sound electrical or the gauges themselves are broken? Should I buy a voltmeter and test the power to each of the gauges?

Hello First let me say, I'm a new owner. I need to jump start my 72' 240Z. Do you connect the red clamp to the positive post and and negative clamp to the negative post on these 240z's or do you just attach the red clamp to the positive post and the black clamp to a solid metal component. The Chilton book says to connect clamps to both posts but I normally do the latter. Just wondering if its different for these cars. Don't want to mess up. LC
