hi im new to this site and just recently bought a 71 240z. i cant get the blinker lights to work. i ve checked the bulbs and they are good. some one told me it could be the flasher, so i replaced that but nothing and im not sure if the flasher that i had replaced is really for the blinkers, all i can tell you is that the flasher was located under the instrumental panel on the driver side right below and on the left to the steering wheel. please help me i dont want to take it to a shop, cuz i dont have the money. thanks

Hello all! I have been going through my project car, attempting to document and plan all the work ahead of me. I have examined the body, interior, engine and last weekend finally took a good look at my Zed's wiring. It's in decent shape, but has been hacked a bit and painted over (possibly several times). I've done a few searches here and at Hybrid Z and have noticed that there are not many wiring/re-wiring options available to us (Painless aside). I work as an electronics technician and do wiring repairs and replacements quite frequently and, as such, have been considering re-doing the wiring on my car. I know many people swap engines, add fuel injection, aftermark…

So I rebuilt my combo switch to fix my headlights(turns out that wasnt the problem) and I was left with these two bushings when I was done. The lights work fine but the 'ACC' fuse, when installed, causes my lights to be on regardless of switch position. That fuse carries my wipers. I pulled the fuse so I can control my lights with my switch but, of course, I have no wipers now. Does anyone know where these bushings go and does this sound like a problem with the switch? The pen is there for size reference.

Hey, I have a '73. The PO butchered the wiring for the wiper. Cut it right before the plug. Anyone know of a good place to purchase a wiring harness or something else that can be done as a replacement for the wires. I will post a pic after this weekend. Thanks in advance

My power windows dont work and the person I bought the car from said it was probubly a fuse because they went out at the same time. I have looked in the manual and I there isnt a fuse that is for the power windows. The person that sold me my car also had put in a new radio, and took it out and put in the original radio/tape before he sold it to me. The cigarette lighter and tape player dont work at all, and the antenna isnt connected, so the radio is hardly functional. Could the wiring to the windows have something to do with the radio? Like does the wiring for the power windows go through that general area? Also, someone mentioned that the windows may work on some kind…

First off i drive a 1985 300zx with 140,000 miles on it. I had a problem a couple weeks ago where my car would bog out when i gave it gas. I brought it to my mechanics and they hooked up a fuel pressure tester to find there was low fuel pressure. They put a new fuel pressure regulator in and it seemed to work for a day or so. A couple days after i had what seemed to be the same problem but it was stalling out at idol which had never happened before. I belive this issue could be something to do with the spark now and the spark plug amplifier was very hot and is starting to melt and crack. If anyone could help me on what they think it might be i would appreciate it greatly…

Hey guys, I had my 1973 240z repainted about a month ago, and I am having an electrical problem. It seems like there is some spot that is drawing current from the car on and off. When driving I can look at my ammeter and usually it is a little bit past half way, but now after paint, it is about 3/4 of the way to the right. Everynow and then, it will go back in the other direction about 1/8 of the way over to the left, it will cause my headlights to flicker dim. When that happens, everything seems to have power sucked from it, the blower motor slows down, and my lights will go dim. My question is there a place that i can check that maybe the guy at the body shop might…

I'm wondering what might be going on, as I have no clue. My Z had been sitting for about a month and over the pass week I had to jump it a couple times and it seemed as though the battery was not holding a good charge. Yesterday, just to make sure, I charged it up, drove the car for about an hour and this morning went out to start it and got no power - not ever guage lights. I then proceeded to go and get a new battery - but after putting the new battery in, the same thing happens. I've checked the most obvious things - the cables are connected to the right terminals ( and both cables are fairly new as well), the starter is also fairly new. Any ideas on where I should loo…

Will a 1975 Datsun 280z Tachometer work just fine in a 1971 Datusn 240z? Mine isn't reading correctly, and is getting stuck so I am in the market for one that works. My tach, the yellow line starts at 6.5k with red line starting at 7k. This one, the yellow line starts at 6k with red line starting at 6.5k both showing a max of 8k. I hope that this one works. I like that this ones yellow line starts out at 6k as the peak HP ends at 5.6k.

Im back to messing around on the Z after taking a leave for a bit. New home and kid have swayed me far away from the luxury of wrenching anytime I want. Starting back on the car now tho. One thing I cant figure out is why my battery keeps loosing charge. Only thing I could really think of, and is on my mind, is the horn button pad from my aftermarket wheel, the little pressure extension on the backside of the attachment is not touching, I need to bend it out more I guess. This is from the GT wheel motorsport Z sells. Anyhow, dont see how that would drain my battery so fast if at all. I loose charge every couple days and Im kind of lost atm due to being away from th…
