Hey folks, Here's the idea: I picked up a new aftermarket fuse bus and would like to connect it to a reliable ignition switched source. I'll be connecting accessorries such as the rad. fan, stereo and other items to it that only need to be used when the motor / ignition is on. What's a high-load source I can tap into? I'm not too experienced with auto electrics(know basics) and don't want to hose anything. I've already made my heater blower quit working(fuses are good) by connecting the radiator fan into the harness(still haven't fixed this...not sure where to start) and don't want to do more damage.

Had removed one of the taillight bulb sockets from the socket holder and removed the bulb. The bulb was lite when I took it out. When I replaced the bulb I had turned it 180 degrees and it lite up twice as bright as it was originally. Because of the two offset pins on the side of the bulb it will only go in one way, the least bright way. Why brighter one way than the other? Do I need new bulbs? Thanks.

$50 for a used unknown to be working 1980zx with E12-80 module distributor. Pulled from a wrecked ride. If it doesn't work are they cheap to fix? Or $70 for a 1981-1983 N/A Distributor with E12-92 module that looks brand new and works and then $50 for the E12-80 module. Plus can this combo even work?

Give me some thoughts on this little situation. My headlights worked. I swear !I even passed inspection this time last year. When I turn combination switch to first position park lights come on, o.k. so thats good. Twist a notch further the park lights stay on, but no headlights . thats odd! Pull back on turn signal , no brights either. this is not good Fuses looked o.k. replaced them anyway. Still no headlights. removed drivers side light check for power - nothing all three contacts register Zilch! . Fuseable links have continuity to both sides? Hazards work, and the turn signals work HMMM.. Combination switch again? or high low beam turn signal? O.K. I'm baffled . Help…

today i was cleaning the wiring harness getting it ready to re-install into the engine bay and just happened to take the boot off covering the connector that leads to the sending unit and found this extra wire inside the boot. Im not sure where this is suppose to connect to. The wiring diagram in the fsm shows only 1 wire however this lead has two, and the harness only has the bullet connector (female end) to plug into. Any suggestions would be appreciated as usual..... 1973Z Thanks!!

Step lamp?

While working on my body/dash harnesses, door switches etc. I came across this part of (for lack of better terminology) the "courtesy circuit." Found it in my FSM as two "Step lamps" that (I think) light up the floor, in addition to the dome lamp, when doors are ajar... the wires are Black and Red/Blue tracer, taped up on the driver's side of the dash harness and at the front of the body harness... I haven't seen a 240Z with these installed...were they for later years? Non-US models? I thought it'd be interesting to wire up a small LED array (or something similar) and tuck it up on the kick panel since the wiring was already there.... Any thoughts? Thanks, Steve

The A/C setup in my Z looks like it was "meant" to be there. There's a metal mount for some little black canister on the wheeelwell between the cooling radiator and the passenger footwell how-ya-doin'. I always thought it was a dealer installed option but it looks like things were put in the engine compartment for the purpose of mounting the A/C hardware.

Everything on my 260z is original, but the speakers sound bad. Looking at replacing but not sure what size I need. Also, went to local radio shop, and since they haven't seen many old Z cars, they don't know either. Also, they are concerned about breaking/cracking the interior panels to get to the speakers. The location of speakers are the ones directly above strut housing. I think speakers are 4" but not sure. Also, can anybody tell me if an aftermarket radio kit is available for a 260? Thanks!

welllll...... got the battery relocated to the back with a rear mounted cutoff switch on the back panel. at the same time i was doing that, i did the internally regulated 280ZX alternator swap (and did the diode thing) anyway, when i switch the battery switch, the car acts as though the key is in the "ON" position - brake light is on and the distributor (E12-80) "clicks" when rotated. i pulled out a bunch of crappy PO-installed wires at the same time, as well, but those were for the cruise control, etc. anyone have maybe a check off list? i'm terrible with electrical stuff, so any help would be great! better yet, if anyone in san diego wants to take a look..... Jaso…

Thought I'd ask for Zs-ondabrain opinion about the article on Addition of a Relay to a 240Z Starter System found at http://www.biopatent.com/solenoid.html.

I'd like to know if anybody has a good idea or gizmo for letting you know to turn your lights OFF? I don't want to be stuck somewhere with no juice. Thx.
