60,000 Volt Flamethrower Coil with a Ignitor II or something a long the lines of an XR700 electronic ignition system. Also, if I do get that, instead of the coil, is there anything else that I should get with it?

Went out to start the Z this afternoon and noticed that after start tach needle was high and then slowly buried itself at 8 grand. I checked all the visible wiring under the hood and found nothing out of place. Any ideas? Tach dead? Silly thing worked fine yesterday. Maybe it's just old and tired like me. Any input appreciated HCH

Hey Gang, I am about to do the XR3000 install on a 79 ZX. The wiring and everything seems pretty straight forward but my question is regarding the stock ignition module (E12-80). Does it stay wired in as is? If so MSA, sells a XR700 module that replaces the factory module, would this be a good idea to do?

I have a 73 240 with 280zx distributer &coil,also has 280zx type 65amp alternator. About 3 weeks ago started missing at slow speeds. I thought it was fuel related ,air gettin in before the pumpas this has happened a couple times in the past. Ichecked out the hose clamps on my mazda elec fuel pump. Ithen changed out all the short fuel hoses and both fuel filters. put on my spare rx3 fuel pump still had the miss. Then proceded to the engine pulled all the plugs checked the plug wires and coil wire all looked fine. This problem just arose yesterday. When I am driving at night with my headlights running and I hit the breaks, for a split second all the lights inside and out of the car dim. The volt meter drops to about 11 and the turn signals are really slow when the breaks are pushed in. This only happens when the clutch is in and the car is running at idle speed. If I hit the breaks without using the clutch, this problem doesn't happen. Basically if the car is at less than 1500rpms and the breaks are pushed, I am robbed of this power. When I open my doors, the interior roof light does not go on. However, when I push the light to manually turn it on, it does light up. I pushed both pin switches on each door, they seem top move in and out fine, but don't activate the light. Why do you think it doesn't light up? I am missing something? Is there another switch someplace that I don't know about. I know in most cars there is a swicth for door/off/on. Thanks guys.

Well after a few days of tracing wires, checking fuses and basic exploring, I have come the realization that my interior/dash harness is shot. The previous owner has cut/spliced and basically turn my wire harness into spaghetti. Is there a source for a replacement harness for my interior/dash that will not require a small bank loan to finance. I am really looking for plug and play if I can get away with it. I understand enough about the electrical system to be dangerous but not enough to troubleshot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1977 280Z---on its way to becoming a daily driver (I hope)

I'm having a little electrical problem and kind of need some help. yesterday i was driving the car and everything was fine until everything just shut off. engine died, lights went out, no voltage, nothing. i check the battery, terminal connections, and everything was fine. i have some voltage now but its weird. sometimes it would read 12v and when i turn the key to the on position it does the normal buzzing sound. when i try to crank it, it just makes a clickick noise and everything shuts off. voltage down to 0. and after that the voltage would slowly go up and reads about 8v sometimes 6v and sometimes 12v. when i try to use any electrical component the voltage drops dram…

I am trying to get my headlights working but im really not having much luck getting them working. I checked all the fuses, they where good. I replaced the headlights with new ones and that didn't help either. I checked for voltage at the plug for the headlights at the front of the car but i got absolutely no voltage there. What else is there to try?? Thanks

I just got this Optical trigger ignition at a local you-pull junkyard off a 260Z. The guy charged me $6.95 with tax. I took the distributer,coil, and all the electrics you see here. It came with a epoxy type coil. The transister has a Motorola symbol on it. I took it home, cleaned the contacts, hooked it up to 12 V and gave it a spin. It ZAPPED the S**T out of me... I'm guessing they were pretty reliable. Thanks, Doug

My 1971 240Z has been in storage all winter. Today I tried to start it, but it wouldn't turn over l..The battery is new, the horn works, I have no headlights but the brake lights and the flasher lights work..has any one every had a similar problem.. Help me.:hurt:

What might be common between the headlights & windshield wipers besides the switch itself? It's past 2:00 AM and I have to get up at 5:30! I've spent the last few hours working on my 240Z. I just got it back from my buddy's shop. I traded some computer work for tuning my ZTherapy SU's and installing a 5 speed transmission. I have to wait until business is slow for the work to get done but it's worth it. Anyway, I had installed Dave's headlight harness prior to driving it down to the shop and they were working.
