Could someone tell me where the wire from the bcdd is supposed to go to? Where is that wire located and what color would it be? The previous owner had it running to one of the black wires for the temperature switch(?)(facing the front of the engine the switch to the right of the temp sensor. Has two black wires connected to it.).He also had that black wire disconnected from that switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm not familiar with this ammeter in the car, more use to voltmeters. I start the car and it runs well. When I rev the engine, the ammeter follows. It does not go past about 40amps, but its following the revs of the engine. Putting a voltmeter to the battery shows 14-15 volts, again raising with the revs, but not going much over 15. Is this normal, or is it a sign of an electrical problem... volt regulator, bad connections, etc .. oh yeah, its a '71 and has the original style external regulator. Thanks, Adam

I have read that the housings can be swapped between a 240 tach and a 280 tach so that the 280 guts will fit properly in the dash of a 240Z. I have noticed that the round silver tach needle assembly on the 280 tach is larger than the one on the 240. Can these be swapped as well so that it will appear the same as the one on the 240 speedo? Seems someone suggested using a dinner fork and some delicate persuasion. Also---I have attached pics of the rear of the tachs. To connect the 280 tach to the harness can I cut into the black and red tagged loop harness of the 240 tach shown and attach a female bullet connector so that it will clip onto the single pin of the 280 tach…

Quick question...other than the obvious.....are there any significant differences between the short and long pigtail fuse boxes... are all the connectors and fuse positions the same? My early 71 should have a long one but it has a short version??? Perhaps the whole harness is a later version.... I want to buy one of the new motorsport boxes and would prefer a longer one as I expect it will clean up the wires in the dash and make a neater radio install. Thanx

I know this is a pretty mundane question but can anyone tell me when this type of fuse was last manufactured? Are they still being manufactured? These are the types of fuses in my fuse box. Sorry about the crappy picture but these fuses have a small strip of paper on the inside and it says Niles, Japan and lists the fuse amperage When I bought the car in my avatar, I had to get a bonded title. A part of that process involved a title search here in Arizona and the last time it was registered was in 1973. As some of you know, I bought the car on Ebay from an estate sale, the car was sitting on the ground, with no wheels in a small town north of Phoenix. With the excep…

So I've been doing a lot of searching and reading about what folks have been doing in regards to their wiring harnesses, and the answers are pretty varied. There have been some nice threads 3-4 years ago about remanufacturing harnesses, (link) but it appears they all really went nowhere... ...Now I'm in the position to deal with my harness and I'm looking for some advice/input on how to proceed. Basically everything works on my wiring harness. The courtesy light switches in the A-pillar were corroded and intermittently functining, so replacements have been bought. The defroster is non-functional, but I also think it's basic corrosion at it's attachment to the hatch. T…

In the 1974 260Z service manual (BE-33) tach circuit diagram there is an 'in line' resistor drawn. Where is this resistor located? The service manual isn't clear about this. Thanks

As many of you know, the wiring connectors, those nice little boxes that have clipping tabs on the sides to keep them secure, are everywhere on these cars and they love to get corroded. I am systematically going through my 1983 280zx and am trying to solve some electrical problems. I suspect many of the connectors are either shot or corroded or both. How can I fix all these connectors? Replacing them all seems impossible. Can all these connectors be replaced? Does anyone out there specialize in these replacement parts? Or do I just need to hard wire all these connections? The connectors on my TPS are green, if anyone wanted to know.

I replaced a bad fuse for my radio on my 1973 240z, after doing so, all lights and gauges on my dash (except speedometer and ammeter) stopped working. Also my parking lights and turn signals stopped working. The brake lights and head lights work fine. I checked all the fuses with a multimeter and I replaced all the bad ones, still nothing. I don't know where to look next. I ordered a wiring diagram, but thought I'd ask while I wait for it to be delivered. Thanks in advance.

Now that I can see the end of the body shop saga off in the distance, the time has come to attend to wiring harness issues:sick: The retaping part has come along fairly well. I discovered some variability in quality of splicing within the harness...some splices are secured by brass/copper crimp-style connectors, some are soldered, but all were protected by electrical tape under the outer layer of loom tape. No burned spots, little to no corrosion at the exposed splices, although some terminal spade and bullet connectors will need replacing....After de-corroding all connections with DeOx-It, a light coating of Kopr-Shield and subsequent retaping of the splices and bran…
