I just bought a 1973 240Z... I can't get my wipers to work. Any step-by-step directions to troubleshoot? When I turn the switch on there's no response, no sound, nothing. Otherwise, all electricals seems to work. Also, does anyone know what type of automatic transmission fluid to use for a '73 automatic? Thanks... new to this site. Mike Abild

The sun is setting on these combo switches, and if you're looking even for a salvage one, my point is made? What I want is to take the headlamp circuit out of there and run it through a toggle switch, running lights too. It can be done, but I would sure like some some electrical wizard to aid me.

Refreshing my 1970 240Z and replacing the engine wire harness, it has seen better days. I have a nice one from a 1971, the part number supercedes by one from mine. The only difference that I see is that 2 main power connectors, one that plugs into the dash harness, the other into the body harness, have spade connectors on the '70 harness, while the '71 has a plug connector. I am assuming that if I simply change the connector, everything will work fine. Have any of you been here, done that? Thanks all.

It looks like the battery in my 70Z is shot. It wont hold a charge. Can anyone recommend which make and model of new battery looks most like the original battery in a 70/71 Z in physical appearance/color, and in physical dimension (the battery currently in my car is too small to bit the battery hold down hardware properly). Thanks....

Hi All, I am trying to install an RX-7 electric fuel pump into my 71. I have found the stock wires near the fuel tank (green and black), and i have found the stock wires behind the radio (green and black/white). Both sets of wires were wrapped in blue tape. From what i've read, i can connect the fuel pump to the wires by the fuel tank, which is easy enough. But where do I connect the wires that are behind the radio? The wires behind the radio have a plastic female connector on them already, and I was wondering if there is a corresponding male connector hiding under the dash... I've searched and found the following threads, which have been very helpful, but don't quit…

I am starting this thread because I searched and searched for info on this topic, and had to use bits and pieces gathered from several sources to put it all together. I got an alternator from a 1995 240SX SE from a Junkyard for $40 shipped (www.car-part.com). I chose this one because it as close to "bolt on" as it gets for the power, cranks out 90A, is internally regulated, and has an internal fan. 1. You need to make a pigtail for the harness that your external voltage regulator plugs into. I happened to have an old one lying around, so I did not have to cut the wires from the "good" one on my car. Follow the directions on the ZCar Creations page located here. My c…

I have a datsun 70 240z and put in a early gm style 200amp one wire (summit brand) and havnt been very pleased with its perfomance. Last night I did a burnout and it started acting up, lights flickering, radio on/off, lights bright/then dimm. I was wondering if the new msd one wire alternators are going to give me the same kind of performance and can they handle constent 3500-7000rpm racing. Or can I use a non one wire? Or is there a place where I can take a stock 240 altenator case and have the guts changed/rebuilt so I have a plug and play 100amp+ altenator? And yes there is a need for that much altenator.

Okey everybody chime in here I need some advice, thoughts, and recomendations. I recently Purchased a Used ZX Distributer from a member of another Club. I repeat not this club! I paid some fairly decent dough for this distributer and If you take into account where I live (Grenada, West Indies) I paid a whopping $U.S. 200.00 in shipping and it don't work! I plunked her in the whole and she would not start, close but no go. I was in the middle of attempting the rebuild on this link : http://atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/distributorrebuild/index.html Ah so here's the problem..it appears I got hosed eh! The vacuum advance cannister thing is screwed, I can blow right through…

Hi all, I'm about to store my Z for the winter. I would like to disconnect the battery and have been looking for a disconnect switch as I don't really want to take the terminal off and on if I want to go for a cruise on those really nice days. Any suggestions? What do you all use? What's the good ones...what's the ones to avoid? Thanks in advance. Mike
