Hey all, Couldn't find much info on this after some searches.... I am replacing my stock L24 with a reman 280 ZX F54/P79 motor, and am trying to figure out fuel pump issues. Here's what I know: 1) The P79 head has the mech fuel pump hole blocked off (or rather, not cut out of the head casting) because of the nature of high pressure FI setups, and that all 280ZXs came with electric fuel pumps. 2) Low volume/pressure fuel pumps (3-4psi) are available for 240Zs. 3) The wiring for early electrical pumps (1973-74 carbed 140/260Z)seems to be relayed such that the pump is on to prime the motor, then essentially off when the motor is running (most of the work done by the mech …

I bought my '71 in CA and drove it back to Salem. I totally disassembled the car, restored it and have it back on the road. It did not have any horn when I drove it from Salinas to Salem. After taking the wiring out of it and doing a full over & under paint job and reinstalling the wiring... Still NO HORN. OK, I bought a new horn relay and installed it and... Still NO HORN. What is the process to check out the horn. I have a 11X14 wiring schematic but where do I start? I guess I need to see if I have power at the horn button, right? I can also try to see if my horns work with an APU battery source. I can just hook up each horn to see if it works. OK, if the horns work…

I bought an OEM radio and I want to swap it back into my '72 to replace the broken 1970's Pioneer that was in there. I just want to make sure I don't put the power wire to the speaker... Or if anyone knows what color is what. Even my '72 FSM doesn't say exactly what color wire does what...

1978 280Z Replaced with a new switch and worked fine for a few months then back to same problem. Took apart all connectors at steering column and under dash and sprayed contact cleaner. All connectors looked fine and shiny. Still nothing. Also checked connectors to each headlight by the headlight buckets in front of car. Help! Brake tag due soon.

Some jerk broke off my 35 year old original antenna the other day. So I had to go buy a new one at the local auto parts store. It works great, it's fully automatic. Just peeves me that someone would do that, and another original part gone.

does anyone have a copy of a 1978 280z wiring diamgram that can send to me through e-mail? I just bought a used 1978 clymer repair manual, but there is no wiring diagram. I need it to figure out what did the previous owner did to the car, messing up the instrument lights and the horn (he installed an alarm system, there is no diagram for the alarm neighter). I can't see the engine and car speed at night, plus, I can't honk on those reckless drivers--dangerous. I really appreciate if anyone can help.

I have my car parked right now but the problem that I am having is that my battery goes dead all the time. I charge it up so I can start the car and let it run,but the charge won't stay. The car has a brand new battery. Does anyone have any knowledge on where I can start to look for a power to ground leak? I've recently had a tune up and a brand new exhaust (with a header) done to the car and before this I did'nt have any problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you guys. P.S. I love this site. Jim 1972 240Z HLS30-71736

My 73 240 is having a problem and I thought some of you brilliant folks could help. The fan stopped blowing and at the same time the interior light and map light have stopped working. I can "hot wire" the fan and it works fine, but without that...nothing. Need more info? Any Ideas?!?! Thanks!

Ive finally been able to determine my no run condition has a alot more to do with weak spark than the carb situation (see rust in gas now bad running thread) I had spark at the plugs, but realized it is very weak. My mechanic loaned me a little tool that will show spark from a spark plug wire and how far of a gap it will jump and its real tiny for the spark plugs. I did replace the coil. I can get spark from the coil wire to ground, but comparing it with the spark from my 280Zx shows it to be weak, as in not very bright. I also used a 12 V test probe to confirm I do have power to the coil, and that the switcheing mechanism in the dizzy is working (tester on neg side of …

Ok. I've been troubleshooting HVAC and found that when I test for voltage at the solinoid connector on the fender only one set of pins shows 12v with the key on.Both sets of pins do have continuity though. Can anyone verify that this is either correct or incorrect before I go and tear things apart. Thanks
