...a common problem with the Z's are burnt/melted fuseboxes, and all the places I've seen that carry the OEM fusebox or a replacement like the bladed type fusebox that MSA sells go for insane amounts of money. If we, as Z car fanatics, can make wiring harnesses and alternator plug adapters, then someone should try to find a way to reproduce the fusebox like MSA sells, but for alot cheaper. I'm sure that if someone were to make one, and sell it for around $100 as opposed to MSA's outrageous $199, they'd make a killing. Just an idea, I'd make it work, but don't have the resources to do so!

I spent some time this afternoon trying to debug the wiring mess in my early '71 240Z, and the findings aren't good. When the original fusebox melted for one of the previous owners, it took out one or more wires in one of the harnesses as well. Said wire(s) got hot enough to destroy the insulation on several other wires in the bundle as well. This is where my problem with a constant battery draw comes from, I'm sure. The farther I unwrap, the worse it gets. So I'm looking for info on the various harness pieces, as I fully expect I'll have to replace some. Specifically the one(s) that connect to the fusebox leads with six-terminal connectors. I've got several questions: T…

My friend just bought a 79' 280zx off of ebay the past week. At first the car would start just fine. But for the past few days the car wont start and we hear a clicking noise when he turns the key. Probably the starter... I'm just not sure how to check that. Anyway it's not the battery as I checked the voltage and thats fine... Any sugestions would help thx, Allen

So I was bored over this past week (on vacation with two kids under 3--no fun trips yet) so I decided to yank out the dash and wiring harnesses...found the taped up connectors for the foglights and the non-connected connector by the fusebox, and got to thinking: My understanding is that the foglights worked off the parking light/dash light circuit. So---if the parking light harness relay/upgrade offered by ZsondaBrain is installed, would I be able to add some beefy foglights without frying my wires? If not, since foglights as standard equipment were pretty rare, what would be the appropriate replacement? Oh, and thanks again (as usual) to a resurrected post from Enrique…

Ok ..If there is anyone around now .. here is an update on my problem and if anyone can help me that would be great. I am hoping this car will get me to work tomorrow. I have tested for spark and all is ok (on # 2 anyway) it seems that this is a fuel problem. Car runs well then either dies when driving or wont start after running for awhile. I have been playing with this thing all night. I have posted before and had a few good answers .. I am wondering if there is a fuel regulator .. or something that would cause this intermiten fault electricaly with the fuel to the FI? Thanks ..Bruce

I'm in the process of dropping my fuel tank, and I've hit a snag. 1. Is there a trick to removing the electrical leads from the posts on the fuel tank sender unit? So far, I have been able to remove the black lead from the bottom post, but despite all types of manipulation I have not been able to remove the yellow upper lead (even though there is a large degree of play between the post and the connector). 2. Is this style of boot and connector available new? And if so, where? 3. There are two wires near the sending unit leads which are attached to nothing (see attached photo). One is green/female, one is black/male. What is their purpose?

I am in the process of putting an '83 L28 into my '71. The '71 distibutor has a Pertronix in it that I am pretty happy with. The L28 came with the newer electronic distributor, so it gives me the option to switch over to the E12-80 very easily. I would just have to pick up the module and swap it for the '83 module. Is there any real benefit of using the E12-80 over the Pertronix? Or are they about the same? TIA, Marty

to be able to pull the key out of the ignition while still in the accesory position? if so, is there a reason why? i have found no good reason for it other than to "load test" battery charge life. *grrrr*

I can not get power to my heater blower. This is a 73 and I have checked all the connections on the blower switch and the fuses. I realize that Datsun in all their wisdom did some screwy things in the 240 electrical system.

Since Dave has stopped building his relay harness for the headlights, I'm wondering if anyone has picked this up. I asked for the plans but heard nothing. If anyone can provide the plans I could build. I have a dead light and would like to upgrade to halogen while I'm in there. Help please!! Bryan

Anyone out here bought any of the many H4 headlamps you see when you search Ebay. I would like to replace mine while I have all the parts off but I wanted some opinions before I dished out some cash. I also wanted to know if I should upgrade my headlight harness when I upgrade my headlamps? Read something somewhere about a member who makes a plug and play relay but couldn't find the post or link. Thanks for the help ...
