I would highly apreciate it if someone could tell me the firing order from front to rear of the engine and the distributor order, i recently ordered a header and a twice pipes exhaust package, but i already have my new spark plugs and wires, but my car sometimes missfires so i believe it is in the wrong order so i do not want to put in the new stuff until i know 100% that its all in the right order. Thank you

When my 71 Z and outside temp is cold, I can turn the key and get nothing for a few seconds, before the starter will kick over. When it is warm outside or the car is warm the starter engages normally. Does it sound like my starter/solenoid is going? Battery charge is OK.

I was taking my sound system out a few days ago and when I got to the actual deck I discovered the fuse box cover had a bit of heat distortion. Checking the fuses I found the top two on the right hand side had overheated and melted the plastic box. They are still holding on but it’s bothering me now so I’m going to be replacing it. The weird thing is there were two wires that had been tapped in to two separate fuses. I’m no electrician but I’m willing to bet that this could be the cause of the overheating. These wires were not there when I bought the car so some electrician has done a dodgy job of it. I have heard of the fuse boxes melting with stock load but putt…

Still haven't found out what the ratings are for the fusible links on the '78 280z. Anyone know? I'll probably end up ordering a set from MSA.

Hi guys, I'm a new Z'er and I am thinking of replaceing my stock ignition parts (coil and system) and also plugs and plug wires. I'm looking for items geared towards moderate higher performance but not racing spec. I have been looking at many different items, but I would like to get everyones opinions first... 1977 280Z thanks guys

Does anyone know of a kit for sale or a way to fix the headlights so you don't have to pull everything out under the wheel well to change the head light? Something where you can just plug in a new bulb like new cars have.

People say you should clean the connectors & ground to get more voltage to things like lights. How would you clean the connectors? wire brush? I used some de-rusting acid on corroded lightbulb bases once. Came out real shiny. I don't think you 'd want to soak your connectors in acid. Anybody try 'CLR' to de-rust? What works for you? thx. happy doli-daze.

I just installed the Pertronix Ignition on my 1971 240z. I just wanted to check on one thing. Is it normal for the round magnet that goes on the lobed dizzy shaft to be a relatively 'loose' fit? I expected it to be tighter and more of a snap fit. It went on easily but I expected it to conform to the lobes and be 'locked' into the shaft rotation. Magnet was fully seated and not riding high. I was able to easily turn the shaft without moving the magnet, but after I replaced the rotor it seemed to move with the shaft. Sound right?

My 280Z has an AudioVox (pull-out) AM/FM cassette receiver, and I'd like to get it serviced/rebuilt. The tape player doesn't track right and it once tried to eat my tape. Are there any good places that work on 80's car stereo equipment, to send the radio while the cars laid up? I'm in Cleveland, Ohio. thx

Ok, I ordered a pertronix igniter kit to convert my dist to electric ignition. While I was at summit I went ahead and also ordered a msd blaster 2 coil. Now here is where i'm confused. Did alot of searching but no answers on this. As I understand it, the resistor is only to keep the points from frying at full voltage. But the instructions for the pertronix kit says, if I have a resister DON'T remove it... but since I'm changing out my coil also... is that still a good idea ? to leave the resistor ? or should I just remove it to get full spark ? From what I've researched the resistor is only to keep the coil from dying and from killing the points, of which I'm removing, an…

I dunno which forum to post this in, since it is kinda scattered, but since I am gonna start with electrical, I guess I'll post it here. I finally got to driv emy Z around for any decent amount of time, streets freeways etc... MY choke light keeps coming on as if my choke was engaged, but it's pushed down, like when i hit a bump, but it stays on...my guess is that something is contacting in ther or the choke cable needs to be adjusted...any thoughts? My guages are screwy... My tach is completely dead (possible b/c of electronic ignition installation?) My speedometer appears to read correctly, except it bounces around with every bump...is this an electrical problem with th…
