Above all else, I've searched and searched and actually have an original question. Secondly, Finally thought I had the problem cracked when I replaced the switch and flasher unit. Alas...I didn't solve it. Here's the background. Hazards and interior lamps worked just fine about two months ago. During one of my many evenings spent fiddling with electronics, two things touched near/at/around the fuse box and made a lot of sparks, I freaked out, and disconnected the battery (forgot to that time). After that event, no hazards or room lamp/map lamp. My questions are: 1. Is there an inline fuse/breaker/relay in that circuit I could've blown? All the fuses in my f…

I ned to know where to direct my attention to tackle this problem: Symptom: When the turn signal (blinker) is operating, the rate at which it flashes varies in proportion (approximately) to the engine speed. Generally speaking, I will engage the turn signal and then begin to slow to a stop before turning. Initially, the flashing speed is quite fast but falls to a 'normal' rate when the car comes to rest and the engine is idling. Could it be: Faulty flasher unit? Faulty voltage regulator? Faulty alternator? I suspect the voltage regulator could be the culprit as the flasher unit apears to be responding to high/low surges in current with changes in engine speed. Ideas?

Hello, I am new to this board and have a few questions. First off I would like to say I have read all of the many posts on blinker problems and tried many of the suggestions with no success. the car: 1972 240 z The problem: Right rear turn signal doesnt work. I can get a test light to light occasionally at the taillight harness, but it is much dimmer than at the left. I have tried cleaning both the turn signal switch and the hazard switch. I have also replaced both of their flashers (relays). I have current at the hazard swith and the blinker switch. What are the 2 plugs that go through the floor at the rear of the car near the taillight panel? one has 1 wire , and t…

My car, as maybe all 72' z's do, has two wires comming from the wiring harness that go to the starter solenoid. One bolts onto the same post as the power from the battery and has a fusable link. The other attaches to a spade fitting on the solenoid, it is not fused. Should this second wire have a fusable link? I read a couple of past posts on this subject but they did not entirely clear things up for me. All power is off when I pull this wire from the spade. Thanks

Hey All In my eternal attempt for originality I am currently going over the engine bay wiring in my 09/71 240z. I have come across what I believe is a non-original relay (Bosch brand), but it seems to be wired in with original factory wiring (4 wires, shrink wrapped, factory style plugs). It is located just ahead of the windshield washer bottle (keep in mind Im in the RHD part of the world), about midway down the inner fender. It is held in place with a single, large head, self-tapping screw. The wiring seems factory and comes out of the harness. I suspect that the starter motor is wired to it. My queries are: 1. Is this a relay and is it suppose to be there. 2. What doe…

Am planning on replacing the fusible links with a gold plated fuse block, on my 75-280, California model Z. I only have 1 fusible link box, located on the relay bracket. It contains 2 links, 1 green labeled Ign, and 1 black labeled batt. Underneath this box, is a metal box, 2" x 2" x 6" and it contains a copper strip, shaped like a "m", and 2 glass fuses. 2 large gauge wires ( 8ga maybe ) one white and one white/red connect to the large metal strip, and 2 light gauge wires, same colors, connect to the 2 glass fuses. My question is : is this unit the fuse for the charging system ? Thus can be replace by 60 amp fuse. FSM shows 2 normal fusible link boxes, but this me…

alrighty well i bought a Z from someone and they had a crappy do it yourself stereo job in there so i removed it. After that the dashlights no longer turn on and my accessories no longer work( heating, a/c, etc) but the funny thing is this little flip down light on the dash that didnt work before now works. It's a crazy problem car i bought but its fast so its worth it any idea of the problem would be great or just a place to start looking would be nice. BTW this is my first car and i dont have the factory repair manual or much car electrical exp so if you answer please spell out stuff for me thanks. P.S. I've been wondering, and not even my Nissan dealer knows this(t…
