I pulled a 280zx distributor at a junkyard to throw on my L24. I've been searching the threads here and on Zcar.com and the posts said to use the ZX coil with the conversion. Since I first heard of this on the Z garage website and never saw this mentioned, I purchased the Crane cams PS20 coil from MSA. Will this work?

Hi Everyone. If I don't start my car and let it run every day the car will not start. I left for palm spring on Friday and came back today, Sunday and the car will not start. I just had it running Friday. I had a very powerful sound system installed recently and I don't remember this happening before the sound system was installed. Could the sound system be draining down the battery even when its not on? Do I need a new battery? Do I take it back to the place where I got the sound system installed? Please help. Thank You.

Hey guys, I was doing some searches and dissapointed not finding any information on an electric fan conversion for cooling. Maybe my searching skills are below par but either way I would like to know who has them, why they got them, how much it costed, and mounting/modification specifics. Oh and also the horsepower free'd up from taking the engine driven fan off? Enough to notice ? Thanks

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5997 I'm getting ready to swap an '80 60 amp alternator into my '73 240 and am using Bambikiller's excellent writeup as a guide. But I have a question that I don't see answered in it. I've attached a picture of the new alternator. You'll see a yellow arrow pointing to a connection that isn't in the write up. Anyone know what it's for? The reason I ask is that I took the alternator to a parts store and had them test it. Their configuration didn't show connecting that pin and they were unable to get any output from the alternator. So I went to another store and their configuration did use the connecto…

Has anyone had any experience putting a Bosch disctributor in their zed? I found a place that converts them for use with a L6 motor and as spares are plentiful should it be easy to maintain etc. I've heard there aren't many parts for the stock ZX distributors left, and what is still around is expensive by comparison. What about other aftermarket dizzys? My points dizzy is too stuffed in the shaft to use the magnetic conversion.. help!!!!

My taillight harness wires are getting a case of the dreaded blackwire disease. It's a 78 280Z, so I will wanto get a new one. Will a ZX taillight harness fit? Can I get a new or like-new one somewhere besides eBay? thx.

I've had this Z since 79, 73 240, ran it 2 days ago all ok, tried to start it last night, dead battery. Got the battery charged up and go to install and when I hook up the cables both the voltage regulator and a relay, top relay next to the battery click. I don't remember that happening before and I wonder if that is what my problem is??? draining the battery dead? The altenator shows a charge with the engine running. I can't figure what the relay does, if I disconnect it nothing seems to stop working and I don't see it on my wireing diagram, it has 2 black, 2 green, and a yellow wire going to it. If I pull the plug out of the back of the altenator the relay and VR don't …

I recently grounded my battery against the valve cover, now I've replaced the battery but, I still can't get it to turn over. Another problem is that apparently the PO removed the fusible link that goes between the starter and the wiring harness (he had some 10 gauge wire that went from the starter and harness, don't laugh, it ran pretty good for 2 years like this!!) I'm almost at my wits end (I just hate electrical)below is what I've done or discovered. 1. New battery 2. checked and retightened the connections at the battery post, starter solenoid, and where it bolts to the block/tranny. 3. awaiting fusible link. the interesting thing is that when I test the battery wit…

I'm looking at replacing the stock ignition system on my '73 and am pondering a Euro system, Mallory/MSD, or a setup from a 280. Any experiences/horror stories you want to share would be appreciated.

This stuff sounds like a miracle liquor. You put it on your connector pins and they get shiny clean! But where do you buy it in big cans, and get you get it in bottles for soaking? The only place I found so far after Internet searching is at music stores that sell Amps & guitars?... I have some CorrosionX, but that's different.

Hello, I have searched through this site as well as a couple more and cannot find out if anyone has actually installed a 2 sp fan from a 3.8 ltr Taurus into an early Z with a L6 motor. I picked one up at a local yard and this thing is huge. I think that it is way to deep. Any thoughts out there. This is for my early 260Z. Thanks, Skip.

Hi all, my 240z came with a xr3000 ignition setup all ready. I'am curious what the black, red, green and white little wires coming out of the unit are for(on seperate loom)? they arnt the pickup wires or the signal/power.... What are they??? two of them are bridged... I've looked at the xr3000 manual on the crane website, and it didnt mention them at all. any ideas?
