Well I've got a 81 ZX dizzy (modual on the side) that I want to put into my 240, I wanted to clean it up before I install it. I took it apart and found that a plastic bearing holder? had pretty much come apart/disappeared. What is this for? It looks like it is part of the vacumum advance. Can I just put a shim in the right thickness and forget about it since I'm not using the V advance? And are they're any adjustments I need to make when I reassemble it? My manuals only show 240-260 so there isn't anything this new in them...

Well my car is trying to fight me every step of this restoration. A little plastic piece inside the headlight switch on the column just broke so I need to get a new switch assembly. I'm planning on hitting the junkyards first so I was wondering what years are ok to pull from? Or by chance does anyone have a spare they want to sell??? Thanks:tapemouth :tapemouth :tapemouth :tapemouth

How to prepare your car for the "dark season" According to regular servicing data, around 36 percent of the vehicles inspected had defective lamps. In the dark months of fall and winter in particular, fully functioning lights are the most important guarantee of road safety. Defects such as faulty brake lights or indicators usually go unnoticed by the driver inside the car. Moreover, faulty headlamp settings cannot be detected with the naked eye. So please - check your vehicle’s entire lighting system, from the headlamps to the reversing lights - make sure you can see and be seen better in the fall and winter months and reach your destination safely. Are the fuse boxes from all the 240Zs the same (i.e. '70-'73 all the same) or where there differences? If not the same can someone please tell me what the differences were? I have an early '71 (8/70 production date) that has a melt in the fuse box and I have a '73 parts car with a good fuse box.

I've been trying to solve this problem myself, with no success. My turn signals really draw the juice! the amp meter swings crazy when I signal to turn. The dash lights, the "choke on" light (which is on all the time. another problem) and heater fan dims/slows in beat with the flashes. I have checked grounds, removed the steering collunm shrowd to check connections and renewed the fuses and cleaned fuse terminals. Any hints?

I am starting the process of rewiring my Z with THIS KIT. While removing the wiring from the alternator, the bolt labeled 'E' broke. Apparently it is frozen and corroded. It didn't take a whole lot of force before it just broke right off. Can anyone give me my options. I'm not even sure which wires go where as of yet, so please be specific. Thanks!

So I installed some relays into my headlight system and the lights came out great! However, now my amp meter and temp guage are on the fritz! At idle everything reads as it should, but the second I hit the gas the amp meter jumps all the way to the right. The temp guage kinda does the same thing but at a delayed pace. I checked the system and the alternator is not overcharging, nor is the car overheating. I changed nothing but the wires for the headlights. Has anyone else had this problem with the relay upgrade or have ideas on this subject? Here's the article I used for the upgrade. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/Headlight_Relay_pg1.htm

My 260z's charging light came on & the votage indicator is showing high volts. When you rev the motor above idle, it jumps from 13 v to +16 -- off scale. The alternater & voltage regulator were replaced about a year ago & had no problems. The VR is a no-name brand (literally, no name on it). Got both from a guy at the Z club in Houston, so don't remember the origin, but they were new/refurbished. So this week, I ordered a VR from British Victoria, but it's a Wells & it's got the wrong plug. The odd thing is, when I unplug the VR, the voltage is rock steady. Isn't that odd? Any ideas? Dave

Whel this is a bit more mechanical than electrical, has anyone got any info or links on modification to the actual lever/stalk to make it actually stay down and mantain the connection whilst trying to turn rather than float back the neutral/centre?
