Hey guys, i started the Honda motor conversion and when I was cutting the shaft of the new motor, I didn’t cut the shaft at the exact same angle. So instead of being cut like this / it’s more like \ so the wipers don’t park right. Any way for me to set the park correct or just cut losses and get a new motor. And cut don’t cut the threads, File out the z linkage!

Some weeks ago I decided to swap the old distributor with a 1-2-3 Ignition with Bluetooth, a relative simple operation (I have it on 2 other cars) an hour later I was ready to rumble, and nothing happened at all? Seek and you shall find? So I began, to search for any errors made during my install, checked the coil, spark plugs, replaced the old resistor, replaced the spark plug wiring, re-timed it etc.. what ever I did, i was no nearer to solve the problem? The engine cranked, but no spark? checked resistance in the coil, distributor cap, cables and so on, every things seemed to be in good order...? It was a mystery? everything worked flawless before the sw…

Recently bought a 1972 Datsun 240z that has never had an AC system installed. i really need to know if the there is any kit that will fit perfectly in this car with no components hanging down underneath the passengers glove box? Will i be able to opérate it using the original indash ac control knobs actually present in the car? The kit i want should be controlled by the original indash panel controls and not by an additional set of controls as i dont want to modify anything in the car. Any good advice?

Continuing to refurbish smaller components on my resurrection project, and have started to tackle the wiper linkages. The car had been sitting for way too long before I decided to purchase it and sadly most of the pivot points in the wiper linkages were seized and one section badly rusted. Some BLASTER, patience, wire brushes, and various drill attachments have gotten all the parts cleaned up very nicely and are ready for some good primer and paint. The wave washers will be able to be reused, but the large thin washer and thin torsion spring on the end of the linkage arm are badly rotted as were most of the small retaining clips. The felt washers were also in rough sh…

On the 1978 280Z: I would like to clean the headlamp dimmer switch contacts. I think they are dirty or fouled, and the low headlamps aren't very bright. Maybe the ground connection from the switch needs improvement. Yes, I checked the voltages at the headlamp connectors, which are full battery voltage. I also cleaned the connections under the steering column, and most other terminals or connectors. Can you take off the turn signal switch from the steering column without removing the steering wheel? If I need to, I could get a new switch, but I have time over the winter to try cleaning it first.

Quick (hopefully) electrical question: My temp sensor (the one on the block below the #5 spark plug, picture below) is disconnect and I can't seem to locate the plug for it. I will continue searching, but in the meantime, does anyone know if this sensor is an input to the EFI system, or does it go to the dash gauge, or what? I ran my EFI bible checks and the temp sensor check came back ok, so I'm assuming that one is the one up in the thermostat area.. Thanks, Ben

Hi Folks, My alternator failed and left me stranded yesterday. Oddly, the voltmeter in the dash was reading 16V and the red light didn't come on to warn me of any impending failure. I have a 77 280Z. The alternator currently in there includes the voltage regulator from a previous replacement / swap - this one is about 5 years old. Then red light in the voltmeter is good - it lights up on start and goes out after starting. So I'm wondering - when I replaced the alternator the first time (and bypassed the original regulator), did I render the voltmeter useless?

Please help! I just bought a 72 240Z I have a lot if work to do. The engine is seized from sitting for years and while I'm patiently waiting for the mystery oil to work I decided to try and figure out why the radio does not work. I removed it today and found it was completely disconnected. There is a antenna plug , a 3 pin connector and 2 loose wires ( red and blue ) please help? I think I found a factory connection for the 3 pin, although I am not sure where there other end of the fuse link is. Is it power or ground? And where are the loose red and blue wires? Key on power? And constant or ground? Thanks in advance

It isn’t new info, but it looked like a good supplement to what’s available about alternator replacement: http://woodworkerb.com/home/datsun-240z-rebuild/datsun-240z-alternator-upgrade

I don't use the rear defog grid and I always fasten my seat belts, so those two warning lamps aren't needed in my car. In stead, I've already re-purposed the defog switch for the spot lamps, and I don't know what you could do with the seat belts lamp- any ideas? Maybe something like an switched auxiliary 12V socket, a switched USB charging port, or a warning for the lock-up torque converter... A computer CPU-fan supercharger? ? And so, I'd like to re-label the blue defog lamp face to read "SPOT." Can you get clear plastic faces, or would it be easy to make them? then, you could use a label-maker with clear labels to put new wording on the lamps. You may eve…

Hi, I try to find out how I can add relay for '75 280z. When I googled, I only find this one might be accurate info. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/91938-headlight-relay-for-260-280/ When I trace FSM headlight diagram looks like this. I'd like to add two relays. I'm not sure this is the correct way to add relay. Could you give me advice? Thanks in advance, tamo3
