Thought I would share this. I was looking for a lens cover to replace the one that disintegrated on my under hood inspection light. Could not find just the lens, but could find the whole light itself. Not wanting to spend that much money, I thought I might be able to come up with something else. I looked in several drug stores and found several plastic caps on various types of hair products, body sprays, and etc. I found a cap from a Neutrogena Body Mist spray can that was the same diameter as the light. If you notice on the light itself, there are four tabs that help hold the lens cover in. There is also a rubber gasket/washer inside. I bent the four tabs out so as to al…

Hello, My original radio is missing the guts to the inline fuse holder (blue wire). Does anyone know where I can get all of the guts for the fuse holder? This would include the fuse as well as the coil noise suppressor. Much appreciated.

Hi, I have fried out some wiring on my 70 240Z when my line from my starter solenoid became unattached from my alternator while I was driving my car. I burned up 6 wires in the engine bay, that I could see, and now when I turn my engine off, the car tries to start or run on as if it is still getting constant power through the ignition. The emergency brake light is on in my gauge, as if ignition is still on, when the key is turned off. I have replaced the burned wires in engine bay, had my alternator tested, replaced my ignition switch, replaced my starter relay, and I still have "run on" with the key turned off. I am looking at everything I can to find the fault. One…

I have been trying to mount the Harada MX-1 antenna I picked up this week off Ebay. I already tried mounting a Metra PW-22 which had a flush mount and could never get it swing forward far enough or back towards the fender so it would be in between the fender and plastic trim. I had higher hopes for the MX-1 but it is not working out either. The old Harada that came off used a half dome mount on top and I am beginning to believe I this is my only option. Before I buy something else can you guys post up what yours looks like mounted on your car, both inside and out? Thank you so much!

Hey guys, sorry to post on a topic that has probably been discussed, I'm still in the process of searching for info. I haven't found anything relevant yet so I'm posting up in the meantime to see if anyone has any insight. Problem: gauges do not light up. Namely the speedo and the triple gauges (fuel etc). Everything else lights up including the tach, map light, radio/console, etc. Except, while trying to fix this issue, my interior turn signals quit working too. The exterior amber lights still flash, but the two small indicator bulbs inside the tach do not. I've put eyes on the blinker bulbs and three bulbs behind the dash (I think there is only one per gauge, rig…

As some of you have experienced, my turn signals suddenly quit. Now I need help. When RedBird arrived here on 3/15, they were not working. Being a compulsive person, I continued to use them, it is so ingrained in me. After months of being without and driving cautiously with hand signals, they suddenly started working again. Hooray! They continued to work until 8/16 the right side quit. Sam the mechanic that was installing the A/C, replaced the bulb. Yay, that was easy. Now, about a week ago they both quit again. I am searching for what I need to do to get them working. Mark suggested that I use a volt meter and check the connections. And also put s…

I am attempting to upgrade my '71 externally regulated alternator to a CS144 alternator. Ive used the MSA converter plug which rearranges the appropriate wires, and includes the diode required. I connected the 12v constant wire (yellow on T plug) to the S "sense" wire on the 4 prong alternator output. I connected the other wire from the T plug "switched" to the F "field" plug. I start the car and I am not getting any charge. It's sitting at ~12.5volts. All the documentation out there talks about 280z, these have I believe a discharge lamp. This is considered an excited correct? Does a 240z require some sort of resistor in it's place to "jump st…

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I did note my switch getting hot when operating that power antenna. I put the switch in a small baggie and pumped in enough electrical contact cleaner in (aerosol can) to flood the entire switch, Then operated it while still in the baggie several times (not hooked up). After I also wiped the extended antenna down with some fine steel wool to polish up the metal. Plugged the switch back in, there was a noticeable improvement the speed of the antenna and the switch did not get warm at all. I prob should done one step at a time to see if it was the cleaning of the antenna or the switch in the electrical contact clean…

My son has a 1973 240z with stock ignition, weber 40's and headers. We have purchased a MSD 6AL, Blaster 2 coil, and 1979 280Zx e12-80 distributor Does anyone have a good wiring diagram to use? After looking at the directions and searching the internet there seems to be a few ways to do this and we would like the Tach to work. It sounds like some folks use the 8920 tach adapter and some don't. Any help would be appreciated before we tackle the job. Thank you. Eric

Since I currently have all of the stereo equipment out of my 240z I am tossing around some ideas of what I want. I have an original and working auto-seeking AM radio for my car that works and would really like to install it as I think it makes the car look period correct and I could use the power antenna switch to raise and lower the antenna. However, when I drive the car I would like to listen to FM radio as AM does not offer much and utilize Bluetooth when needed. I have a nice Alpine AM/FM/CD/MP3/BT stereo that I have been using but I never use the CD player, really just FM and BT. My question is, could I install the AM radio in the stock location and install a CD-…

Hello, I purchased a retro sound radio recently. Works great. Kind of. it loses all it's memory after starting. I contact retrosound directly, they figure it's from too much voltage drop during start, or a bad ground. Tested on an old battery, and new. The following stats are from the new battery. 12.2v off. During start, my constant power wire is showing a drop down to 10.5v. After reading online, this seems normal. Retrosound says the constant is the one which usually causes this issue. initially I had the radio set, so the switched power was connect to the "on" portion of the ignition. Meaning, my fuel pump runs as well wh…
