My aftermarket radio was working before i took my 72 240z to the paint shop and now it does not turn on at all. I already checked the manual antenna connection at the trunk of the car and the antenna banana plug is connected to the female socket. Dont see no broken wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the radio. The red wire is connected. Where else do i check? I really dont want to pull the heater panel off to see if something was disconnected or not. THe only thing that was done to the car is a swap of the ingnition switch and that only consisted on a plug and play female 5 pin socket. The car is running and all its lights are working. Where else do i check…

You know those 2-pin electronic flashers that you can get? I would like to know more about how they work, so you could use it for other stuff besides flashing the turn indicator lights. I have a few in the parts box. Most of the stuff I read involves plugging them into your motorcycle, but could you just hook it up to a 12V battery to flash some lights, like on a sign in the front lawn? If you used the old-fashioned bimetal flasher, you need a lot of current or resistance, but would it work for just a few LEDs? The one flasher I looked at had only the B and L terminals.

I am uncertain if my Datsun 1972 240z (Made in January 1972) used a Manual or Electric Antenna? Can someone clear this out? I do have the following antenna still unwrapped and would like to know if i should just setlle with the OEM manual antenna as i would not like to be driving with the antenna up while hearing CDS or music through the USB port: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Antenna-Kit-1970-thru-1973-for-Datsun-240Z-AM-FM-Car-Radio-/181565640752?hash=item2a4627d030:g:ZOAAAOSwnDZUIJ-k&vxp=mtr Anyone???

When I completed the restore of my car, I spent a lot of time removing brackets, clips, and other miscellaneous parts within the engine bay in order to give it a cleaner and better organized look. Actually, this was my son's idea, so I can't take credit for it, but it really did clean up the look of the engine bay nicely. However, as I was contemplating all of the upgrades for the electrical system, I realized I was going to need a slew of new relays for headlights, cooling fans, etc and I just didn't like the idea of cluttering up the engine bay that I just got done cleaning up. On top of that relays are mechanical in nature and as such can fail over time, so I rea…

So I happen to have the gas tank out of the 71 I'm working on (a whole nother post on its own....) and remembered to clean the ground point in the wiring harness that is only accessible when the tank is out. Perhaps some of you don't even know it's there. Thought I'd show it's location and how to service it. The wiring harness that runs from the hatch through the floor to the fuel level sending unit and fuel pump is the one we are talking about. After it goes through the floor, the ground wires terminate at a 5mm ring terminal that attaches to a threaded hole on the side of a frame member on the right side. The bolt is a 5mm hex head. Remove it, clea…

I can't find the Blue Yellow stripes wires are for on the wiring harness. The FSM shows them not used. they are directly opposite the White and White Black stripe for the driver speaker. I was hoping I could use those (not used) for the Passenger speaker. I did not see them in the passenger side area when I had the panel off, AND they are not polarized so doubt they would be for a speaker anyway.

I finally have this car up and running but the cold start injector doesn't fire when hooked up. It does fire when triggered when tested. The engine temp doesn't seem to come up above 120 according to the gauge. I noticed this evening that the wiring connectors are interchangeable on the two. It is possible that the wiring connector for the thermotime is connected to the water temp sensor and vice versa. Can anybody tell me how to tell by the wiring, where it goes or colors or any other identifier to see if I have them crossed. Also, the tach doesn't work nor does the clock. Coincidence or related? By the way, the z car will not run when the wires to the ignition mod…

Just finished the wiper upgrade. It functions and parks as it should with this exception. Wiper at the bottom of the windshield I turn them on, the wipers come up (as they should) but on the down stroke it runs past the bottom of the w/s onto the cowl, comes up I turn off the switch and they park at the bottom where they should. In order to eliminate the over run on the bottom I have to position the wiper arm about 4" up from the bottom. Any suggestions. Could it be that I cut the motor arm threads at the incorrect clock position?

Just picked up a 1973 240z, great shape but I need to fix a few minor issues. The hazard switch shaft and knob have come out of the flasher assembly. Is there anyway to reinstall the shaft or does the complete assembly need to be replaced? I did remove the switch from the dash but no matter how hard I try the shaft will not stay in. There are two flat spots on the shaft which I assume should lock into something. Does anyone have any experience with this. Thanks
