I wonder sometimes about how MUCH light you can get out of the 7 inch headlamps, and instead of adding a pair of spots or extra driving lamps, you could just turn on both filaments (low &high) of the headlamps using a set of relays. Could you just add a shunt to the wiring so both filaments are powered when you hit the high beams? I think you'd probably be at the limit of the wiring (65W + 55W= 120W or 10 amps each) plus an amp or two to make up for the old wires. Then you'd get both the wider beam with the longer high beams.

Hey Folks, I was curious as to what type/make battery you had in your 'Z' Right now I have a regular lead acid battery in the 'Z'... after I drive the car and park back in the garage, I pull the battery, put it on the bench and hook up my smart charger to it to keep the battery charged... This get's to be a pain, BUT I'm worried about the acid boiling out, and getting all over the place in the engine bay if the charger goes wonky... I also have a Red Top Optima that I have another smart charger in the garage, but it doesn't fit the factory battery hold down frame... I would prefer to switch to the sealed Optima that way I think I'm safer from battery acid getting all over…

Its behind the speedo. I tried getting to it to pull the electrical plug to disable it but couldn't get to it. The FSM saying I need to remove the speedo to get to it but I can't even find the lower screw for removing the speedo (I kind of hate the thought of pulling the speedo any way incase I have trouble getting it seated back in again). I don't see a separate fuse for the buzzer which I could pull. Does anyone else have a suggestion for disabling it? This is on my 76. I don't mind it so much for example when I open the door with the key still in it, but mine also alarms while I'm cranking the engine over to start it, and I'd rather beable to better hear the engine whi…

Hello everyone, I was doing some research on swapping out some wires in the harnesses. I couldn't match the Z's wiring gauge to the AWG standard, I later found out the wiring in the Z is under the AVS standards. For example the main ground and green wire going to the fuel sending unit are AVG2 which is 26 strands and each strand measured at .32mm. The AVG2 converts to a 14 AWG wire. They go by increments of 2 for the AWG. Here is the AVS standards website: http://www.seaps.com.sg/cables/cab_general_avs.htm and most conversions is on page 15: http://www.sacramentoelectronics.com/images/bussmann/specialty_catalogs/BUSS_Auto-OEM.pdf If I am incorrect, please corre…

Hi all. I have my dash out doing repairs and decided to replace the incandescent bulbs with LED. I've done the swap, but want to test that they work. Does anyone know the power lead to the bulb lights?

Running back to my electrical gremlins in my '70 240Z as the temperature begins dropping outside, some of the issues become more annoying or severe. The PO of my car had someone 'work' on the car, which for some reason included cutting the pigtail out of the fusebox and main harness, and splicing it together with house wiring connectors (didn't even crimp it. Fail) I have no ammeter deflection, except when running lights, brakes, heater, etc. And the deflection is always negative. Charging voltage at idle (900) is about 13.8V, No more then 14.1 at any given time. I have NOT checked this number with accessories on, so I'll get back with you guys tomorrow about that. …
