Hi all, Could you please help me with fixing my tachometer issue? I have 240z 1973 us version. The tachometer seams working on the first look properly. But it doesn't because it displays only +- half of real rpm. Tachometer can't go over 3000 rpm but the real rpm is on limit. I checked the coil and resistor and boths are ok. I have red coil 1.5ohm and the resistor is 1.8ohm. Thank you for any suggestions how to fix this issue. Thanks a lot. Kind regards, Radim

There are two blue wires coming out of the harness behind the heater control panel. Both have in-line glass fuses. Both are not hot and not attached to anything. What are these for?

I am restoring my 1/70 240 and my wiring harness has a 5 pin connector with a separate lead that connects to a condenser. All of the replacement voltage regulators available have a 6 pin connector and no supplier seems to know for sure if it is a plug and play fit for my setup. At one point I'm sure I replaced the original regulator but the car was completely disassembled for a "frame off" resto several years ago and the shop misplaced my regulator so i'm going from scratch here. Any advice ? Thanks Brian

How do I identify a replacement lig ht bulb for the engine bay trouble light? The bulb in the one I have says Toshiba A12V8W on it meaning 8 watts but when I got a spare at the auto pa rts store the new one wasn't as bright. I compared current draw and the original 8W bulb is showing just over .5A while the new one is at .12A. Both pictures are of the original light bulb: The "posts" that stick out the sides are in line with each other. I have seen bulbs where the posts are offset but not on this bulb.

I have a 1971 240Z and earlier this summer I had a major electrical fire. Something happened and the main wiring harness in the dash melted. I have had this car for 6 years and plan to have it another 30 years so I am more interested in fixing it once and correctly. Are there any companies that will remake a wiring harness? I am also thinking if I am going to upgrade the wiring harness I might as well upgrade the gauges since this is more modified than original. Anyone have any ideas? There is an auto electrician here in Portland, Oregon but it is a minimum of $1,500 up to $3,000 depending on what he finds and I am thinking if I can get all new parts and then have so…

Hi, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. My car is a 1976 280Z 2+2. I have removed the dashboard of my car to work on the hoses in the AC system and re-upholster the top foam. After re-installing the dashboard I have 2 problems: Headlights won't turn on. All other lights do. The brake light in the Speedometer is on and the brakes are way too low. I have reviewed the switches and the fusible links and they are all Ok. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks,

I use a couple devices that get power via a USB port connection. Both require about 500mA. Has anyone seen a product that could be wired into the car's electrical system (probably the cigarette light circuit) and installed permanently? I would probably put it near the hazard switch under the radio. Yes, I have a USB power port that plugs into the cigarette lighter jack, but you have to take it out for shows, and an installed unit would be more convenient to use and have an OE look to it, if done well. thxZ BTW- I might get a new radio with a USB data port in the face, and that might be useful for charging things. Does anyone know what the current output of the faceplat…

Guys, New here, after searching for a little over a year, I finally broke down and purchased a 71' 240z. After driving it home, I realized the interior gauge lights do not work, and a few other things are a little weird as well. I have not broken the Multimeter yet, but wanted to see what you guys thought, perhaps this is a common issue? Here are the details: Interior gauge lights do not work when opening the door, or switching on the headlights. The dome light, behind my head on the headliner does work. Map light doesn't work, from what I can tell, the cig lighter does not work either. There is a aftermarket radio that I fear as a hack job behind it, it is wired …

What wire near the radiator does the engine bay light plug into? Does that wire come from the engine bay harness or is it a separate wire? I don't see a spare wire near the radiator to plug the inspection light into on my car. The 72 FSM (I actually have a 1970 car) shows the inspection light red/blue wire going to the fusebox and changing from red/blue to green/blue as it nears the fusebox. Thanks for any info.
