I've got a 77 280 and I'm planning the mounting of some relays for various improvements to the electricals, but I haven't yet decided where to physically mount the relays. Problem is that my car doesn't have A/C, but I would like to add it someday, so I don't want to mount anything in a location that would be taken by an A/C component, so... I'm looking for some good engine bay pics of a 77 with A/C that is mostly stock. I'm primarily interested in the passenger side of the engine bay and/or the firewall on the same side since that's where I think I want mount my relay block. Anyone help me out with some pics?

Just a quick sanity check on harness 27155-e4400: In the photo below: 1. The black ground is obviously tied to chassis ground at the top of the photo. 2. The top 6 pin connector plugs into the back of the fan switch. 3. The bottom 6 pin connector plugs into the blower assembly. Questions: 4. but where does the red power cable with inline fuse plug in/ draw power from? 5. and what about the 3 pin connector tied back at the top? Is it for AC option?

I got a wind shield wiper motor off another z and it worked great, until about 10 minutes when the relay broke. I've spent some time surfing the web and can't find it. If anyone knows the part number for this relay it could really help me out. Thank you for reading.

I don't know if this idea is worth pursuing but I would like to have a blinking LED to remind me to pull the choke off when the car is warmed up. For those who have worked with electronic circuits (I gather some here have) what is the easiest way to do this? I was thinking about connecting an op amp up as a comparator with one input going to the thermostat and the other input wire going to an adjustable resistor so that when a certain resistance is reached the LED that is one of those blinking types is turned on. Where can the LED be hidden so it can't normally be seen? I would assume a switch connected to the choke control would be needed to turn off power to the op …

Have been running the AC on my 78280Z blowing cold for a couple of months now. Yesterday it worked all day. Today I turn it on and nothing. Even with just fan only I get no air blowing. I have checked the fuse box. No blown fuse . With the key and switch on, I do not see any current coming across the fuse connectors. I have new vacuum lines on the Magnet valves. I don't believe (yet) that the entire fan switch went bad. Can anyone id these Relay switches for me? I cannot match up the wires from the FSM . Would one of them be a likely culprit? AND There is no way the ignition switch could be involved could there? From page AC-15 I am guessing there is not a dedicate…

Guy's - installed MSD (6425) ignition over the w/e & now get pinging on my 240Z ! dropped the timing a few degrees ..now only @ 13/28deg & no change in condition. Using a 280zx dizzy, E12-80 module now removed with vacuum disabled. the MSD should not have messed with the dizzy adv curve so not sure why this should have happened. no change in gas quality - same gas in tank before/after swop. Motor is a 2.8L / mild cam ~ 10:1 CR Any comments/observations ?. thanks

Hazard switch and turn signals work fine, but when I step on the brakes only the diverside rear light comes on, with the ignition turned off and my foot still on the brake if I push the turn signal arm down to the left the driverside brake light turns off and the passenger side brake light turns on. After reviewing SteveJ's fantastic Turn signal Analysis, Hazard Switch ? Brake Light ? Turn Signal Circuit Analysis | Fiddling With Z Cars I'm thinking there might be something screwy going on with the T/S switch. Just wondering what you guys think before I open the switch up? Thanks, Chris

As per This thread I am going to buy a new ZX matchbox ICU and hope that solves my problem, I want to know if anyone knows what brand I should buy to avoid having the same problem as last time, is there only one company that makes them and everyone else distributes them, or what, there is Back Arney, WD Express, Standard motor products, etc.

I'm having problems with my ignition lock cylinder and need to turn to you guys for help. Original symptoms, key was stuck in ignition in the ON position so it wouldn't turn to START, or back to OFF. I read on here to spray in some lube, wiggle the key, rap on it with a hammer (this is a bad idea, by the way - will explain later), all without luck. So I pulled the assembly (pictured below) off the steering column and took it to a locksmith. He found that there's a stop inside the lock to keep the key at the right depth. Mine was cracked (possibly made worse by me hitting the key with a hammer) and hence it was very easy to insert the key slightly too far, at which p…

When I hit the horn I can hear the relay click and a little chirp from the horns, if I keep the horn switch down there is no sound from the horns then it blows the 10amp fuse in about 4 seconds. I have jumpered power from the battery to the aftermarket horns and they honk loudly so I know they work and are grounded. There is continuity between the green horn wire and the H terminal on the relay, as well as continuity between the S terminal on the relay and the horn contact switch. There is 12v at the B terminal on the relay, all is as it should be except this short that is happening. Not sure how to proceed, Thanks, Chris

Hi guys, I just acquired a '78 280Z and the wiring is in pretty poor condition. It looks like some has frayed and some has been disconnected or bypassed by the previous owner. I do have the FSM and have looked through the electrical section but these items have both ends cut so I can't trace them. Can someone help me identify the two items circled in red? 1) This part is in the driver's side of the engine bay next to the ignition coil. Both ends frayed off. 2) These two wires are coming through the firewall near the battery. One is gold and the other is white. The PO has them taped to two other wires that have been cut. No clue what they should be going to. …
