Kawamata stated that he "regretted that his company did not imprint its corporate name on cars" Ultimately, in 1981 the decision was made to stop using the brand name Datsun worldwide, in order to strengthen the company name Nissan. Ultimately :bulb: a costly rebranding was necessary.. I am very interested in this story - believe there is someone (hopefully here on this forum) who could give us some insight. Datsun Heritage is strong - am I wrong? How strong? Are you willing to talk about the American Datsun Dream and rankled Nissan executives. I do believe this was a hot topic in the US already with the success of the very first Z-car

I decided to scan and share some more of my Datsun memorabilia. Here are copies of the Nissan U.S.A. monthly newsletter "Datsun News" from 1972. I had to break May and Aug into two files each due to size. Enjoy. -Mike

OS Giken is planning on displaying their TC24- B1 engine in their booth at SEMA this year. They have been talking about making a limited run of that engine again for those that might be interested. Think six figures if you want one. FYI... The TC24-B1 was not just the twin cam head. It including intake and exhaust manifolds, linkage, carbs, pistons, rods, timing chain and tensioner, and more. They also made a four cylinder version called the TC16-MA2.

I'm looking at buying a 1981 2+2. After I looked at it I realized it didn't talk. What year did the "Talking Lady" first appear in the 280's?

Returning to an old and controversial subject. The design of the L16/L24 or the Modular Series of Nissan OHC, in-line engines. Per Alan's suggestion - that we take the word of the man that designed the Nissan L20 into account. I have had the interview with Mr. Iida, that was published in Nostalgic Hero, April 2004, translated by a professional source, and that translation then reviewed by several others who read/write both Japanese and English - feedback from everyone was that the article was as faithfully/accurately translated as possible - so everyone can now read the article in English for themselves. Im guessing from the 240-280 line. Ive got some that have the capital Z in them, and another one that maybe a horses head(I'll have to double check it) Was wondering if there was any significance to them, like some were certain years, some only came on certain models etc.
