Finally got around to looking deeper into it and found that the "F" stamped cam is for a P79 head. My car is a 1978 280Z with an N47 head along with all other N47 parts. My question is, are there any advantages to the PO doing this or is it something to not worry about? I have the valve lash adjusted to what called for in the manual.

This is kind of a sanity or fact check. I have, I believe a 260Z Radio that I want to swap into a 240Z. Has anyone used a later 260Z AM/FM radio - to replace an earlier 1972 Radio? I am looking at a AM/FM Radio for a 1972 240Z - and AM/FM Radios from I believe a 260Z & 280Z.??? 1972 Radio Model Number: KM-1520-ZC 1974/75 Radio Model Number: KM-15020-ZD 1976 Radio Model Number: KM-1520-ZE While they have slightly different mounting brackets screwed to the sides { they are screw-on interchangeable} - the Radios look very much the same in terms of exterior dimensions. The Face Plates are a different shape for the different dash styles, but again they can be swapped …

Since I had to take off my front bumper to paint my engine bay, and I never intended on keeping the park benches anyhow; I am not putting my park bench back on ever again. That being said I do not have any 240z bumper brackets to look at, so I have no idea how the horns will go back on. I guess it is no different than a 240Z?

I currently have an electric fan on my L24 '73 with an aluminum crossflow radiator. I have a new 280Z fan and fan clutch that I bought for my 280Z but never used. Will it bolt up?

Has anyone upgraded their 280z OE condenser to something more efficient? When I do my engine swap along with my engine bay repaint I am going to really work on my AC system. I have a leak somewhere, so everything in the engine bay will get refurbished or replaced. I thought there might be a condenser that is the same size as the OE one, but perhaps is off something newer and more efficient.

Hi gang, Well I just purchased my third (and hopefully) final Z. This is the one I'd like to keep until the end. I've got major plans for her like putting a ZX Turbo motor and accompanying 5 speed tranny in from a 1982 donor car. I've restored many cars over the years and me, tools, and engine swaps are very old, close, intimate friends but I've never done a Z before. If any of you have any insightful tips or advice for me like: how to navigate through all the electrical harness issues, smog equipment, exhaust options, clearance issues etc. etc. etc. I would greatly appreciate it. I'm actually thinking about eliminating the turbo set-up from the engine because I had an 83…

Hi all. I have a 280z with a FS5W71A but the 5th gear is just about stuffed. Its whinning a bit to much for my liking and if I am going to change it I would like to upgrade to the FS5W71C I live in the Netherlands and found someone here with a FS5W71C from a 300ZX 1985. Most people talk about swapping the 240SX tranny and modifying the bellhousing on the "A" to clear the cluster gear, the larger bearing and one fork selector rod bore also needs reeming. No one talks about doing this with a 300ZX tranny. Is there a reason for this, maybe ratios or some other alteration in the 300ZX preventing the swap? Any advise would be greatfull before I take the plung.

I am thinking about swapping my 3 speed auto to a maxima 4 speed I know guys that have done this, but I need all the info thats required. The tranny I have is a 3n71b,the 83-84 maxima/84-89 z31 uses a 4n71b. I think the guy that did this from group z used a 82 maxima---is this a 4n71b? I think all he had to change was a shortened drive shaft. I heard a drive shaft out of a z31 will work. I am compiling information and checking into parts need some advice
