I've found some goodies I'd like to order but am leery since the site advertises to sell parts for four other different makes. Anyone ever ordered from them before? Recommendations? Thanks

OK, I have all the basic knowledge of how the turbo system works, and how to incorperate it with my early Z.. BUT!!! One Part I just dont quite get......... "Timing". stock 76' is 8 deg. (+/- 2 )..... 81'-82' turbo 20 deg... and 83' is 24 deg. 1) Why would you Advance the timing on a turbo system??? 2) Can someone help me understand why with a system that you dont want detonation!!, would you have the spark start sooner?? 3) Is there something about the increased cylinder pressures that slows combustion??? or do I have something wrong in my thinking this out?? Any help appreciated, aZcarbum

My old four speed is making some very strange noises and I think its time to build up my L-28 and mate it to a ZX 5 speed and swap out all of it at one time. I know I have to use 280 clutch components, but something in the back of my mind says I also have to change out a structural piece. I know about the mod to the transmission tunnel but what am I forgetting? :paranoid:

i install a 5 spd borg warner tranny and a r200 lsd. my problem is there seem to be no locking ring on the passenger side of the differential and the shaft on the left seem to be longer 'coz the rear tire seem to be toeing in. does the passenger side should also have a ring so that when i insert the half shaft, it should snap in. how will i know i have the right drive shaft. i took it from a 280z and installing it to a 240z.

I have serched the "parts swapping" pages for help but found none. I installed the electronic ignition fron a '78 280z on my 240z. I have not been able to figure out how to make the tachometer work yet. Any help for me? ( all of the 240 wiring is still there - I only used some of it for the E.I.) - Jeff

I'm starting to rebuilt a 260Z that its a big mess. I'll probably need to buy a part's car to get the gob done insted of buying all the parts that are missing. Been searching for that par's car and found a lot of 280's. Here's my question. Are the body and interior parts compatible with one another? or do i have to look for a 260Z exclusivly. Thank's for your support and Zknowledge.

Hi, I want to know if the electronic distributor with E-1280 module, will work on my 240z automatic. Is this swap only for manual trannys? I have this doubt knowing that the point's distributors are different from manual and auto. Don't want to mees around not knowing if it realy work's. I already have the distributor, e12-80 module and the coil. Don't care If the tach don't work with this swap, all I want it's a quick start in the morning, and 6000 rpm  Any advice or experiences on this swap is welcome.

I have a 70 model that still has the orig. block & head, running strong. I am about to add a new intake & a holley 390CFM Carb. Also going to do Headers & new exhaust at the same time. Any input from someone in the know would be appreciated, I'm not that much of a mechanic, but dive into everything headfirst. I have also yanked all of the smog & AC stuff, any issues concerning that? Thanks.

I need to replace one of my rear wheel bearings due to a bad noise. This involves taking out the stub axle and going to a shop to press off the old one and press on the new one. This takes the car off the road, which I don't want too much of. Now here's the hard part. The 280zx seems to be fairly similar around this area, with rear brakes interchanging and half shafts bolting on and stuff. So is the stub axle the same for both cars, the 1983 280zx and the 1973 240z. This would be much easier if I had a new bearing ready on the stub axle to install once i got the old one out. I know it is a bit left field, but anyone tried it? Thanks Scott

I may have a chance to pick up an '80 280zx motor to swap into my '73 240. The only way I can do this project at all is to keep the costs way down. I have a few questions as I plan this out: 1. Should I keep the existing FI for the new motor, or put my 72 round top carbs on it? I like the idea of no smog with the carbs. FWIW, this is a weekend car, not a daily driver, and I am very comfortable working on the carbs. What sort of difference in top-end HP might there be? 2. Can I bolt my existing 240 clutch parts on to the new motor? They are relatively new and in good shape. For now, I don't plan to do a 5 speed swap. 3. Can my existing 240 radiator handle the load?…

Greetings, all I have a rusty 280Z(76) that I was restoring. Most of the car is in pretty good condition. However, all the rust spots are very, very bad. Basically there are regions on the car that are almost "minty", yet inches away, there will be areas where you can put a fist through. So as I am taking it apart, it always got me frustrated if I stare at the rust holes for too long. Because I know it will take a lot of time, a lot of money, while in reality, college work will only make me busier and busier in years to come. But there might be a chance! I just found a guy who is selling a restored 260Z. I went to his house and looked at the car. The body …
