I recently thought I wanted to do this conversion. I just ordered a Champion 2 row aluminum radiator with two electric fans. After more research and reading numerous threads on this subject, I have decided to not install the fans right away. I don't think all the fuss and wiring is worth the small hp gain, "if any", that I might get. I will install the radiator and keep the stock fan in place and see how it works out. I'm sure it will be fine. But, my question is this. Before I chose to start off without the electric fans, I had decided to go with a thermostat relay kit that uses a temp sending unit that directly reads the coolant temp. It's just like the temp sending uni…

I have the rear suspension apart on my '72. It has a R200 diff in it and factory half shafts. I did not get to drive the car very much prior to pulling everything apart. The half shafts need new boots which I plan on replacing but question is there a way to tell if the u-joints are bad? They are grease-able units which leads me to believe they have been replaced at some point in the cars life. If there is no way to bench test them should I replace them with some solid brute force joints for assurance or just pump them full of grease, drive the car, and go from there?

I know you got it but I just can't wait to share my experience. I had to remove that arm off the throttle body that holds the spring, it's a #6 allen bolt that holds the throttle body to the intake manifold - bottom right, so I could reach that bolt closet to thermostat housing. I had to put the horizontal shield on first then the vertical one. Sorry I didn't get this to you earlier.

Looks like '70-'71 Differential Mount is NLA? Can I safely use the '72 mount in my Mar-'71 car? Motorsport! Differential Mount Insulator, 70-71 240Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts Reading this, I'm wondering if the NLA version is just the early one referenced here: Differential mount difference 240Z | DATSUN 240z | JDM CAR PARTS Appreciate any insight. Need a new mount.

Trying to do some searching on proper moustache position for the diff based on model years. There has been a lot of threads on the diff whine -especially with the early models with the r180 diff. I guess I have read that the moustache bar was actually was flipped around to pull the diff back to line up the halfshafts(make them more perpendicular to the diff) to help with diff noise. Looking at the 8/71 in my garage the halfshafts do angle a lot from the diff -BACK- to the axles. It would seem that if the bar was flipped the angle would be much closer to 90 degrees. On my car 9/71, I can't recall what was the stock position. I do have a r180(subaru r180) in my car and I s…

My car stalled in the pits while at the track this weekend. When I starting taking things apart to figure out the cause I was very surprised to find that the oil pump shaft was sheared at the distributor end. Turns out that the advance tabs in my Mallory Unilite distributor broke off and jammed the mechanism causing the distributor to seize. Anyone seen this before?

As the title states, I've noticed quite a few non-factory appearing stamps on my '73 E88 head. I'm assuming they're not factory, but could be? Funny, the one on the back (JW 207) are my initials and the area code of my childhood hometown.

Hello everyone, Well I've tried this question over at hybridZ and haven't had any bites yet so I thought I'd try over here as well. Long story short, one of the previous owners of the car (late 1973 240z) cut off the transmission tunnel ears in the process of installing a v8. I am currently returning the car to near stock with a l24 mated to a 280zx 5spd and obviously can't use the original crossmember due to the lack of "ears" on the body to bolt the crossmember to. I am not set up to weld in my garage and do not have any welding skill so I have two options: (1) find a bolt on crossmember that would work (2) tow the car to a shop and have them weld something up. The sec…

Could someone that's owned one suggest a street-able clutch for an aluminum flywheel for my mostly stock '77 280Z? It came with a 240 I recently bought and I would like to try it out on the less revy 2.8 motor. I am using a standard Exedy clutch with the original steel flywheel but could put it in my Hardbody pick-up later on. Any replies would be helpful. Thanks, Cliff.

Trying to replace the seals on a 1979 280zx transmission. Can't figure out how to take off the striking guide on the rear extension - looks like I need to maybe remove the striking lever first and maybe the whole striking rod will slide out...? But I can't get the bolt off of the lever; does the guide disconnect another way? Thanks.

Not talking about hair styles here, talking about what would be better for a stock '78 280Z with the N47 head. Would i get a better compression from just dropping in 82-83 ZX flat tops or shaving the head down as much as i can? I just want a nice street performance with track in mind. Thanks guys.
