Hmmm, I filled the '71 with coolant for the first time yesterday and just noticed a slow leak from the bolt on the bottom of the water inlet. I will take it off tomorrow to inspect but I don't recall any mating surface or corrosion pitting issues ... and I used aviation gasket sealer on all surfaces. Anyone ever see a leak in this area before?

I have a 78 280 z and have the engine out of the car. While the engine is out, I want to replace the front seal on the automatic transmission. I have studied the 4 manuals that I own and none give good instructions on how to remove the torque converter and replace the seal. Please help: 1- Does the torque converter just slide forward for removal? 2 - Should I be prepared for fluid loss after the converter is removed? 3 - are there any special tricks to replace the front seal? Thanks in advance for the help

Soon I'm planning to change the exhaust manifold & replace the exhaust manifold/intake manifold gasket. I also need to replace some of the studs that come out of the head because some are too short, which I think has caused my intake manifold to leak slightly. 1st Question: How should I remove the existing studs from the head? I'm worried about breaking them off by not removing them correctly. 2nd Question: Should I use a factory Nissan intake manifold/exhaust manifold gasket? Or is there a better one i should buy?

I put my timing stuff on and was very careful. I turned the crank over and now the crank sprocket dimple is 2 links to the left of my bright link. Is this normal? Kinda' seems like it since the crank sprocket has less teeth than the cam sprocket. Motor turned like rubbing panties together.

I have been researching different sites but still can't find anything on a cam someone is selling here locally and I haven't heard back from the seller. It's a NOS part and I think they were made in the 70's. It's never been installed and I wanted to do some research on it but have had no luck. Any leeds would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have recently completed a 3.90 R200 diff swap into my 71 240z and also purchased a techno versions diff mount which I believe is very similar to the R/T mount. I also purchased the poly GM mount so I can get rid of my factory lower mount. The problem I am having is that I cannot get the bolt lined up to attatch the gm mount to the steel bracket. If I bolt the gm mount to the bracket first then I'am off at the diff bolt holes. Has anyone with this diff mount had to modify their's to make it work? it also seems as if the poly mount needs some trimming done to it aswell. I have read multiple times that this is a straight forward install, and I have triple checked everythi…

Well today I took the thermostat out and backflushed the radiator and the block and left the thermostat out because it was overheating, after I had done that car was running too cool, where does your guys gauge get up to when you are running the car at night, mine gets like a fourth of an inch before the middle of the gauge, is this good for the car to run this cool or is it only because I was running it at night, during the day (90 degree weather) it takes a while to get there but it goes to the middle, and should I put a thermostat back in it. I tested the coolant and water mixture with a tester and it is fine it is even below the line to where it is suppose to be. I …

Has anyone seen a hose that looks like this? Nothing really holding it together I could just pull it apart with two fingers. Another P.O.'s hack? and why have I missed this for so long. Could this be giving me a massive vacuum leak? Oil leak?

I went to check the timing on my '70 240z (all stock ignition) because it starts and idles fine, but stumbles under acceleration and completely breaks up over 4500 rpm. The timing notches on the pulley are over an inch below the pointer. I moved the distributor all the way in both directions, but could not get the nearest mark any closer than about an inch from the pointer (but could move it further away). Any thoughts? I've searched the forums, and there is a lot about timing, but I didn't see this particular issue. Any thoughts?

Hey Ya'll!! i just subscribed. One of my main reasons for this is because I'm new to the Z scene and am currently working on putting my original engine back in after rebuilding it. I would like to keep the block in the original shell. I thought of putting an L28 in it for power and i do have one,but decided to keep the L24 and make a what i think is a major mod. I thought of using that L28 crank and boring the engine head because of how much the pistons stick out. wondering how much compression i would get. Anyone ever done this before or herd of anyone doing this? I'm afraid of getting too much compression :stupid: p.s. I'm using the original 1973 E88.
