I now have a oil leak from the # 6 cylinder header bolt dripping down by the bell housing , it looks like the second bolt in on a n47 head is this just a bad gasket ? all spark plugs look great , when I assembled the motor 25 years ago I used the old hardware I did not know at the time about changing out the hardware . so I now see msa auto sells the new hardware kit and gasket . I sprayed carb cleaner around the intake and have no rise in rpms . is it just a bad gasket and old hardware ? thanks for the help

Hi guys, so I am having my transmission rebuilt soon and while its out I was considering having a lightweight flywheel swapped in. Do any of you folks have experience with one of these on an s30? I've read that the stock flywheel weighs around 23 lbs and all of the lightweight ones I've found online are around 10lbs. Having a flywheel that light will make street driving difficult/frustrating I'd assume (I've heard you have to kind of 'launch' the car after each stop light)? Are there any flywheels/weights you'd recommend for improved performance within reason (I only drive this in the city/freeway and never on the track). Side note: Right now, the …

I adjusted my TPS by taking it off, cracking open the case by drilling out the rivets, and so on. That TPS turned out to be flawed, so I got a new TPS. Does anyone out there know how I can adjust it properly without cracking open the case? I need to know when the idle contact opens and when the WOT contact closes. How can I do this? Thanks Nathan

I am preparing to pull my engine, L24, and when I removed the thermostat housing it looked like someone had packed it and the head full of Stove Top Stuffing. It was a crazy amount of corrosion. I dug as much as I could out, but I'm sure there is more of this crap in the water jacket. The water pump area did not look too bad. This engine was sitting up for 15 years. Any suggestions on how to proceed cleaning?

For the last couple of years, I have been planning to rebuild my 77 280z motor. It is getting tired, running well but oil consumption is a issue. I suspect rings & valve guides. Last year I acquired a interesting 2.8 motor and am now getting around to looking more closely at it. It is interesting in that it was claimed to have been rebuilt and never installed. (kind of like ran when parked, lol) It is a F54 block with a N42 head. Turbo oil pan but NA intake & exhaust manifolds. I had it sitting on a nice cradle & dolly, so easy to move around. I pulled the plugs, which are new NGK's and never fired. Got my laptop and borescope camera, inspec…

I am trying to figure out what coil to use. The 78 doesn’t have the ballast resistor so is it the 1.5ohm or 3.0ohm I am looking at the pertronix coils. The verbiage is confusing because there is no stock ballast resistor Factory Electronic Ignition: 1974 and later Z's with original ignition should use this 1.5 Ohm coil as opposed to the PerTronix 3.0 Ohm coil, and also should retain the stock ballast resistor. I picked up a wide ratio 5speed from a 78Z. I’m going to put in my 73 240Z. Do I need a clutch kit for 70-74 Z or the later 75-80 model? TIA.

Inspired by Captain Obvious, I thought I would go out for a last tango last night before they salt the roads. As it happens less than 1.5 miles in, accelerating off a roundabout at 2.5-3k rpm, the car suddenly lost power with afr at 18+ and struggled back to idling after pulling over. I suspect the diaphragm on my good mech pump has also started to go in the same way the other one did. Last time this happened I swapped the pump on the side of the road and it’s been perfect until now. I do have a NOS diaphragm, but I wonder if that will go too at some point. So I am looking at installing a tandem electric pump or possibly just going electric full stop. There are …
