DUMAS question #2 for today: For those who don't recognize these, they are the throttle linkage pin (one with the forked end) and the sleeve which are mounted within the two lobes on the intake manifold crossover tube. What I do not know is, it appears as though these two holes align when fitted. To secure the sleeves position (keep it from slipping) is a bolt passed through this hole? A pin with "C" or "E" clamp? Cotter pin? I am trying to restore the original linkage which is missing a few parts. I tried emailing ZTherapy for help on this but got no reply.

My "new" 73 has a 6 into 2 header and then runs into 2 glass packs not far back and then all the way out with 2 pipes. In the powerband it is quite loud. I just want to tone it down a bit. I have searched but can't find easy solution. Maybe another pair of glass packs at the back? ty sirs

Just got back from my friends house in jasper. we decided on a 3.1 litre for his 240 he doesnt have yet! argh! so jokingly, i say, "hey lets go to the Jasper Junkyard" to "find" a LD28 crank. yeah right. its jasper GA, like the smalled hickest city ever. So we get there, they are closed. but we *sneak* through the gate. we split up, and about 20 seconds later, i hear "HOLY SH*T" ran over, and there are FOUR, yes guys FOUR (4) Datsun Maximas, all diseal. I pop the hood on al 4 and yup. the whole engine is there. OMG!!!!! not to mention there was one non disel that i guess has the N47 maxima head... Next thing we know, a car drives up and yells, and we run back to t…

Just bought a 73 240Z, original for the most part. During the first valve adjustment, we noticed much sludge and varnish when removing the valve cover. It suppposedly has 113k original miles. I'm sure it could use a rebuild, but in the mean time would and internal engine cleaner and or carbon flush help? Or hurt? Which brands are good? TY uhoh7

I'm getting ready to pull the motor/tranny from my 72 and need some help. When mounting the engine to a stand I should use the threads which currently hold the bell housing to the block...... correct? Anyone know the size on these bolts without removing one and measuring? I also realize I'll need some good size, high-grade washers. I plan to measure the stand "arm" depth + depth of the bell housing threads + washer thickness to get a good length bolt. Anything I'm missing? I've got all the manuals and they say simply "use bolts", duh! :stupid:

How much does a LD28 Crank weigh? And approximate dimensions? Trying to work out a shipping cost. Searched the forums and couldn't find an answer.

Well after scrapping the RB idea as it would have killed my budget and the Trust twin turbo kit not fitting as it's made for a RHD (It's for sale now check classifieds), I'm back to using the parts and motor that I have had on hand for the last 5 years. Here is what I'm having the machine shop do: Block • Clean/Inspect • Bore/ Hone “as neededâ€ • Remove phillips screws for block vent screen • R&R Freeze Plugs • Magnaflux Main Bearing Bolts 14 • Clean Front Cover and Oil Filter Mounting Plate • Remove Flywheel Keys • Clean Oil Pan Crank • Clean Polish/Balance • Pull Torque Adapter Plate • Remove Crank Bolt • Remove torque plate adapter on tai…

This cocca Z i bought last week has a very clean body and interior but engine is hammered. I also picked up a rebuilt L24- complete with head etc.; with about 30K on it. Reportedly very good components. So it looks like I am in for a swap. Forgive my ignorance. I have all manuals on order, hehe. What special tools will I need? What to watch out for? Hints, tips, links..... Thanks guys, Charlie

This is a 73 Z with 3 mikunis and a 6 into 2 header, which I have just got. The valve cover vents into a k&n filter in the engine compartment--not connected to intake and I'm not positive if there is a PVC valve stuck in there. The crankcase vents to a stinky filter/cover which fits over the pipe on the left front of the motor The gas vapor return lines from the resevior enter the fuel vapor control valve, then 2 vacum sized hoses come out of that valve and are cut. They do not appear to be plugged. Fumes are a concern, and I wonder what suggestions you guys might have to deal with these engine compartment contaminators? Thanks Charlie
