OK, I have an '83 turbo motor with the dished pistons and no turbo. Since it is an f54 block and probably needs rebuilt am I better just swapping for a NA L28 F54 or getting flat top pistons for the engine I have? If I do get new pistons, what would the parts numbers be? Would using the KA24E pistons from a 240SX or the pistons from a 720 truck be a better and less expensive idea? Since I don't have the diesel crank and am not trying to build a monster high octane motor are these other pistons a poor choice? Just want some extra power, kind of a sleeper thing. I know that's a lot of questions, but I have someone here in Wash. State who wants to trade me a NA L28 F54 …

KGL here what can you guys tell me about Borla xr-1 raceing muffler. Do you think it is good or do you think it is bad. And does it matter if i go with 3 or 2.5 inch pipe KGL

I recently received a timing cover gasket set from Victoria British, part # 53-702 manufactured by ROL gaskets (hecho in Mexico). While I'm fairly pleased with the overall set there is one problem. On the gasket that goes on the left side of the timing cover (if your standing in front of the car looking at the front of the engine) there is a hole in the gasket for one of the oil gallery's the one I'm talking about is the one that goes from the pump to the filter. This hole is cut in the wrong place it is off by about 1/4 of an inch or 2 mm. Now this will probably not affect engine performance too much but it will restrict oil flow. Hi guys, i'm 18 and am looking at picking up a 240z for a fun car, (i've got a corona exiv, but that 77kw 1.8 FWD doesn't exactly give me any thrills) and was wondering about engines in these cars. so the factory 2.4 is rated at 150 hp, about 110 kw?, which seems quite nice for the weight of the car. I've read a bit and see that chev 350's are a reasonably popular engine swap, but i'm in brisbane australia, and am not too sure bout the availability of them or about local expertise knowledge bout these engines. Like i said i'm only 18 and most of what i'm saying is probably wrong and or stupid. What about sr20dets? many people put them in? or would it be better to keep the…

How many miles can a stock 240Z engine, regularly, but easily driven, and very well maintained, be expected to run well and reliably until needing to be rebuilt? Cars doesn't burn or leak any oil or other fluids now, at 149K documented miles.

does anybody have (or know of a place i can get) cross sections of an l-series head? i'm wondering for porting purposes.. i've seen an illustration before, but i can't remember where i saw it. p.s. when people say that pulling the exhaust liners out of late-model heads is a PITA, they aren't kidding!

Does anyone know the HP output of an L28E from an Aussie 280zx? Its just ive got conflicting information, not sure which one is correct........... I've found a place where the HP output from an L28E in a 280zx is rated at 170hp http://www.zshop.net.au/280tech.htm But everwhere eles (that i can find) says the L28E engine in the 280zx was rated at 139hp, Which one is correct?

Kgl here, i'm almost done building my motor. I installed a stage 2 msa cam, 280z valves in an e31, on top of a L24 bored 30 over, with flat top pistons. With these performace upgrades included, can any one tell me what my 0 to 60 would be like, and also my 1/4 mile time. thanks for the help KGL

I am trying to locate a set of 6 L20a or L14 rods. Yes, I have searched this forum as well as the internet. Does anyone have the Part #'s? In what engine/car were these rods availble? Are they available in the US? Can I order them from Nissan or get new OEM's anywhere?

I found this website in my new Turbo Mag. http://www.9secondracing.com/partnum/2654/parttype/19/partcat/20/HKS-Nissan-280ZX-Turbo-1981-83-(L28-Engine)-Adjustable-Cam-Gear.html They say that HKS has an adjustable cam gear for the 280ZX and Turbo. I e-mailed them the other day and have not gotten a response back. I just wanted to bring it to the forums attention to see if it is truely possable or are they pulling our/ my leg. Thanks

Guess what I found today?............ I discovered the head gasket was leaking, I warmed it up pop the valve cover to re torque the head and it is maxed out, my guess it was over torque and the bolts are maxed out as well….. History, for those of you that do not know I bought this 70/240 after it was sitting for some 6 -7 years and am bringing it back to life….the OD says 130K miles the previous owner said the head was done 30k back. What do you guys think should do, pull the motor or just redo the head again? What would your next step be??
