Just a litte FYI for those running low compression engines that havent ran the 1/4mile and wondering how good it will do. At SEZ this weekend, i ran a best of 15.096 seconds at 94.2 mph. not to shabby! i finally posted it on Zcar.com, and everyone got mad and started bashing threads, and then blamed me for hacking gotz.com. wow. so i got banned, and now im here! anywho, if anybody wonders what times they will get, here is my engine set up: block bored over .020 fresh dished pistons balanced race preped rods and crank semi ported head new valves with 5 angle valve job 60mm TB AFPR cold air intake ZX distributor 6-2-1 headers eurodampner all new valve train MSA stage 2 cam …

This is the header on my 240Z. I know nothing about it, it was on the car when I bought it along with a unusualy tripple carbn intake which I was told was an F.E.T. Tony D over at zcar.com seems to think it might be a moddified JDM Fujitsubo Racing header, others think it might be a BRE. I figured I'd ask here as well, you guys seem to be more into this sort of thing than the guys at zcar.com. Sorry for the crappy pictures but it's the best I can do.

I was down at a couple local muffler shops at lunch looking for some replacement gaskets for the header collector to exhaust joint and someone showed me an all copper gasket. Thinner by far than your average paper+metal ring gasket and entirely made out of copper and featuring a circular groove pressed into it around the exhaust opening. I'd never seen anything like it before... Have I been trapped in a dark cave unaware of this for years? Is it a new thing? Does it even seal well? Curious to hear what you all have to say. -e

:tapemouth :tapemouth went to go to Eddie Radatz's today, he helped me adjust the valves hot finally! car ran smoother after that. but i finally asked him what that wierd noise was. sounds like its coming from the first valve, right under the timing cover. well, it only hits right at 1700RPM, nothing more, nothing less. i started the engine, reved it, and he knew instantly. its the timing chain hitting the guide. the drivers side is loose. how the heck did this happen? its got a whole new timing set on it, the guides are solid in place, whats up!?!? i really dont want to take the oil pan, the PULLEY, and front cover off. i just want to go ONE month driving this thing wi…

Last night, my friend and I pressure tested our Z cars. Both are '72s and both have L28 engines. The only difference is that he has flat top pistons and an N42 head, and I have dished pistons with the N47. From front to back cyl, his pressures were all exactly 175psi (12:1 more or less) and mine were 130, 130, 135, 140, 125, 130. The problem is that when we put the flat tops into his car, it would ping no matter what octane gas was used. The timing was backed down to 7 deg (stock?) and now he must use 93 octane, or it still pings. Before the pistons, my 240 was actually faster, but with the pistons, we both run a low 15 second quarter. So my questions are, sho…

I'm thinking that im starting to save my money...i have a check in hand that would give me $1300 more in funds if it is real and actually goes through, so i have decided it is time for the rebuild. I'm thinking these will be the steps... 1.Flat tops Pistons & rings 2.Stage III cam kit from MSA 3.Fuel pressure regualator 4.cold air & k&n filter 5. electric fan 6.New gaskets That is what i have in my basket right this second but this is my first rebuild and i had some questions... Like bigger valves?? in a rebuild like im talking about should bigger valves be on my list...and if so how much would it cost? I want to do this right...so anybody that wants to teach …

As you may know, I am going to be doing a turbo swap. I know someone else in town that was doing the same thing. He said that you can put the flat top pistons in a turbo application. This would raise the compression ratio a little. I have thought of it, but I am not sure if he is pulling my leg. I would like to know from the forum if it would work. I'd ask on Hybrid Z, but I can't get on the website from where I am at. :disappoin Greetings from the middle of nowhere...............

I just got an "Injector Seal Kit" VB Part #57-200 ( pg. 80 in cat. 44, upper right corner). I'm puzzled as to what's inside. There are six smaller o-rings which I think go on the injector tips, and six larger rings. What are the larger rings for? Don't see it in the repair book. thx

Just a quick question. The elbowed nipple on top of my valve cover is screwed. As you can see....the hose it pushed all the way up against the cover because of the missing section. Anyway....in my search for a valve cover, I am not noticing any with the "2400" on top. All I see are the "Nissan OHC" ones. No big deal, just wondering which years had these. Picture below.

I've never heard of a L28 block cracking so I ask, where does the L 28 leak water into the oil? My first thought and repair was head gasket but that didn't fix it.
