Ihave a73 240z with 3 row radiator and MSA shroud. Yesterday after just leaving home car started to miss and die. After several starts engine loudly backfired two times.Managed to get back home to check things out, found one of plastic fan blades had bent under the shroud and gouged the rad. Then at that time noticed the gap on remaining blades was very small .Ihave driven over a year with no pr0blems. What would cause this? Been told that my fan clutch takes a long time to engage. Am going to take car to rad. shop on monday. If rad. not repairable want to go for a 4 row radiator ,new plastic fan and clutch. My concern being that since gap is so small will this happen agai…

I'm doing the final assembly on my engine and have lost the torque specs for the crankshaft cap studs made by ARP. I've tried calling them but I missed them by 1/2 hour and today is Saturday. Can someone help me with the proper torque specs before Monday? ARP Part # 202-5406. I'd hate to have to sit around until then. Thanks guys. Ed

I would love to do this to my L24. A single drive system is much more appealing in every way. Do any later L6 platforms use this drive that could be moved over to the L24?

I have an AFM boot that is in good shape but it's hard as a rock. Is there anything that you can do to restore rubber to make it more pliable?

I am going to put an E31 head, with 280 valves, on an F54 block. When I place a 2.8 head gasket on the E31 there is very little room between the valve and headgasket to unshroud the valves. Am I missing something? I know several people have put the 280 valves in the earlier heads, did they have custom head gaskets made to allow for room around the valves, and grind the top of the cylinder bores to match ( .050 above top of ring travel) or just clean up the head as much as possible Bob

Any one replace their oil pan while the engine was in the car? Specifically a L28ET in a 240Z. Do you need to raise the motor up to do it? Thanks, Pete

I see a lot of stuff about bent hoses, like for the gas tank. Is there a way you can form te hoses in a desired shap so they stay bent, or does the manufacturer have to do it at the factory. Maybe bending it with heat in a wood mold of some kind, then letting it cool? Solvents are out, obviously. I haven't fooled with vulcanizing in a few years. thx

I have been lookin at a 77 280z and if i purchase it the first thing in line to do is rebuild the engine. It currently runs fine but it is getting old. I plan on using this car as a daily driver but i am interested in what i can do to crank out those extra horses. I realize headers, exhuast, and intake will help but what else do yall recommend? cam? How much power can be expected from a L28 engine? i will probably spend from $3-5000. I am not looking to do anything radical. I have searched this site and there is a ton of info but it is all spread out and hard to piece together.

Well, I spent a good bit of time on the car today. I have the head bolted down and the timing correct. I am very happy, everything looks good. I am taking the front cover and some other parts (water pump, oil pump, ect.) to school in the morning to clean them in a tub of parts cleaner. Then on thursday I should have it all together! I cant wait! It has been a while since November.

This one goes into my "stupid things I've done" book. So, I've got my engine on the stand. I've been working on it for a while. It's been cleaned & painted. It's had a little grinding done here and there and has been through pre-assembly. I'm pretty happy with the way it's going. I recently got my internals back from getting balanced. So I'm getting everything ready for final assembly. I turn the engine up side down and am contemplating leaving the oil pick-up tube in place. I'd already cut a new gasket for it and installed it during pre-assembly. Then I said to myself. Nah, I'll take it off and wash the block one more time. I remove the pick-up tube and noticed that…
