Some time ago I replaced the filler hose of the gas tank. Since, I observed that when the tank is filled up, I start to have a dust streak on the rear fender under the gas door as like some vapors would come from under the rubber flap and run along the fender and down to the bumper. There is no smell and the gas cap seems very tight. Any idea about the source of this problem and how to fix? Richard

I am changing my cam and did not mark which of the 3 holes in the cam gear the cam dowel belongs in. I have an idea which one just by looking but would like to be sure. The old cam got a lobe ground down by lack of oil due to the external oiler's gasket failing which cut oil presure to the lobes. Just got the car Saturday and went to adjust the valves and found this out. Thanks in advance, Nelson

Hello fellow ZERS' Does anybody out there suffer from aggressive throttle syndrome? No, not the need to mash the throttle down at any given opportunity although I do tend to suffer from it on occasion:classic: This one is your starting out, push down on accelerator (pretend theres a cop next to you) no response, alittle harder and it snaps open, not full throttle mind you, maybe 2krpm. I've lubed all fittings, thats not it. In looking at the linkadge, I think its in the design, just to Roob Goldberg. Has anybody done a mod to remedy this? Maybe a helper spring or something? I can feather the clutch and get around it, but when rounding a corner and dropping into second …

I just got an advance timing light, and while I located the notches on the crank pulley, Im not sure which notch corresponds to which timing setting. Can someone help me out? Also what is everyone stting their timing at? I know their is different information for emmissions and non emmsions cars. This is a USA vehicle (a 71) all stock, save exhaust and removal of air pump.

I had a question. On my 72 240z, It idles at like 1200 now which i can live with but when you press on the gas it takes like at least a min. to Idle back down. Normaly it stays at around the 3000's. And it gets kinda shaky when you are driving it around and come to a stop real fast, most of the time it ends up dieing. I just don't know why it takes so long to idle down??? HELP!! Could it be a vaccuum leak, possible in the smog pump hoses? because i know they are letting in air, I had a set of plugs made to plug them but haven't gotten home to try them yet. Do you think this is what it is? THanks guys

hey guys, i've got this problem with my 260 where it tends to smell like gas in the cabin. i have some small holes in the passenger floorboard which i just recently for zfest this past weekend put duct tape over to see if that was the problem and its not. the car was tuned by zotz in orlando which is reputable for such work and the rear hatch seal seems to be in place and in tact. when i bought the car the previous owner told me it has a schneider stage 3 race cam and it does lope at idle, but i dont think that's causing the gas smell to get in my car. i'm pretty sure all my gromets in the firewall are in place like they should be. does anyone have any ideas as to ho…

Hi all, i apologize for not doing much searching before posting, but i'm pretty busy right now and under somewhat of a time constraint. I'm recently engaged and busy doing wedding stuff which leaves little time for surfing the web and working on cars. My situation is that my L24 engine spun a bearing, and i've picked up a running L28. My desire is to put the carbs from the L24 onto the L28. I've read a few threads about FI vs carbs, and i've decided i like su carbs for sentimental reasons. Question #1: What should be replaced while the engine is out? I'm thinking that anything made of rubber should be replaced, but that may get expensive and perhaps time consuming. …

hey guys, for the reason listed in my "strong gas scent" thread and the fact that i think my car would run better with it i was thinking of stepping down from whatever big race cam i have that makes my car lope, though that part is cool, to something smaller and much milder. has anyone used motorsport cams and if so how do you like them? any other brands anyone would recommend? i know crane is the big name and they also have a sizable price attached to them. maybe i should just step back to stock cam for a bit. thanks for your time everyone, brian -broken74-

Ok, here is the deal. My 280Z is in dire need of a new exhaust. The original one was cut off right after the pre-muffler and the previous owner just stuck an old honda muffler in the hole, put a clamp on it and called it good. (this is just another reason i think he was an idiot). Anyway, it needs to be replaced. Problem is, many of the new exhaust systems are made for either stock manifold or for headers, and not usually both. Are headers all they are cracked up to be? would performance be that much better than the manifold? I ask because i need to decide whether to get the manifold or header exhaust system. If i went for headers, i would have to wait another 3 mo…
