Have 71, considering leaving factory manifold alone. Would you guys recommend the MSA "Targa" or "Turbo" for the stock implementation? http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PEC

Are there any good articles about inspecting and adjusting the valvetrain on an L24? I would like to pop the valve cover and do some inspecting to see how it all looks but was hoping for some guidelines. Also, if I do end up doing any valvetrain adjustment, what tools should I have on hand? I have most of the basic tools already, but fre specialty tools. Thanx! Justin 73 240Z

I'm considering buying a 1975 280z with 150K on original engine. Great condition. My question for the long-term is if I ever needed to buy a rebuilt engine, what ballpark price am I looking at? Thanks!

i have a 75 280z with FI and some mods and i just finished my install of all new timing components and a stage 3 cam kit from MSA and was wondering if the ignition timing still should be set to stock or if it should be altered? if so does anyone know how it should be altered? i ask this because today when timing it it seemed to run not as well with the factory setting of 10 degrees btdc it ran smoother with a setting nearer to tdc but im no expert and wouldnt dare leave the timing at anything but stock unless its alright to do so. thanks.~Jerrod

I just purchased a lightened flywheel (used). It came out of a 240z. I have an 83 5 speed with 280z clutch parts (clutch collar, clutch slave cylinder, clutch fork) question is can I still use these parts with this flywheel?? Or do I have to buy new 240z clutch parts. I thought the flywheel was the same on the Z models through 83, except for the 2+2 versions. I seem to remeber that if you used the same year clutch with parts, you'd be fine. Is this correct??

I have been extremely interested in a turbo conversion for my 1978 280Z. I have been searching around for a few years now on this site... and I understand it's better to just swap in a 280ZXT engine into my car.. but my engine is running VERY strong and has only 100,000 miles on it. I would trust my engine ALOT more than a junkyard one, and i figured would be cheaper. But I am gathering a list of stuff that I need: ( i just need help to see if I miss anything) Turbo Exhuast Manifold Turbocharger and Wastegate Oil Lines Vacuum thinngy (what is the vacuum thing I need? what is it called?) Turbo Injectors Intercooler Intercooler Piping Downpipe Turbo AFM 60mm TB Now I…

would the alternator mounting bracket from a 280ZX work on a 280Z? The one on my 280Z has broken and no stores around here have or can order the part, so i've decided to see what i can salvage. A yard near me has a ZX and i wondered if that bracket would work. thanks

I have two oil pumps, one is off my L26 and the other is off my old L20B. The question is about the casting marks on the two of them. The one off the L26 has H23 cast in it and the one off the L20B has H33 cast into it. Are they the same pump and these are just cast numbers or does it have something to do with volume pumped? Probably a stupid question, but if someone knows the answer that would be great.

i was told by putting in a turbo oil pump inplace of the factory non turbo one, it helps with boosting oil psi at idle and through powerband. ive read and even experienced low to no oil pressure waiting at stop lights. i was informed that the swap made a huge difference. just wanted to let people know.. However i dont know the casting numbers for which pump is which ie turbo vs non turbo, because i have both in stock.. anyone know?

Ok guys, I have a 75 280z with FI and my engine is dying so over Christmas break i'm going to rebuild or have a shop rebuild my engine and head along with doing some mods to the head. This is my plan (tell me if you think its a good one): Bore out the block to 3.0L put in the flattop ka24 pistons, completely redo my N42 head, port and polish it, and install a stage 3 cam in it whose specs are lift .460/.460 and duration 270/280. heh i like high end power. also im looking to take my friends differential out of his automatic Z because the gears are supposedly longer then my own and i like long gears so ill be switching to his 3.36 differential from my 3.54 differential.…
