Hey, i noticed that from my head gasket to my valve cover (if i named these parts correctly, appears to be way newer than teh rest of teh engine. I was wondering if its stock? it says "nissan OHC" and the oil cap is in Japanese. It looks liek it was plated at one point..and still kinda is... just wondering if its been altered in some way, and is there a way to be able to tell?

A stupid question for many. :nervous: Why is the L series engine on a slant? Looks like about 5-8 degrees. Is it due to the design of the car so that the bonnet level could be lower? Is it due to the engine design? i.e. more torque if on a slant? Sorry if this is a silly question guys....just curious. James

I've noticed that a lot of different people who put polished valve covers for sale on ebay always say that the cover has been media blasted or glass bead blasted. Anyway this is a great way to clean up the outside. But the problem is when they do the inside. Blasting media gets stuck to the sludge on the inside of the baffle plate and stays there. Rinsing with water does not remove the media. You have to remove the baffle plate and use a stiff brush to clean it. The last thing you want is some of this media coming loose and flowing through your engine. $.02

Looking for info on the 260 air cleaners. Restoring the one we have, plan on upgrading from the flat tops to round tops and keep the original air cleaner, going to use Ztherapy's adapters with TWM Induction air horns. I have a problem with my 72 240z. Say the car is in third gear on a very slight grade upward, the rpms are slightly below 2500 or at 2500 and gas is given; the car chokes itself. There is a lurch like the engine is lacking fuel. Is this the carbs? A problem with compression? not really sure. My dad thinks its the carbs. Could be. thanks

I just bought a 78 280Z that ran perfectly fine while test driving it. It needs some brakes and wheel bearings though so I have had it sitting in the driveway for about a month now while I buy all the parts. I just finished putting on the new brakes and went to take it out for a test drive and when I started it up I filled the whole street with white smoke. It seemed to let up a bit after I drove off. As I was driving it was hardly there any more. I used to have an 83 Z years ago but I don't really know very much about these cars. What should I have checked out? When I start my 72 240Z, it takes quite awhile for the engine to warm up. It hesitates real bad and actually pops after it starts to speed up. What could the problem be? Put some carb cleaner in the gas tank and some water treatment. Any other ideas?
