Hi All, Does anyone know roughly what the chamber cc will be on an E88 after a 0.030" shave? I need a figure to plug into the engine calculator. I've been guessing at 42cc so far. Cheers, Rob

Hey guys, I am debating to get rid of my p79 head and get a p90 head for my F54 block I am putting in my 1970 240Z. I can get the head from a dismantler for $150.00. Is it worth the money and will I notice a great improvement over the p79? I do not plan to race, but I want a fast every day car. Thanks, Rick.

I just got done putting in my MSA Header and ZTherapy SU's and went to torque down the nuts & Bolts. I searched everywhere in the FSM and couldn't find the specified torque requirements:stupid: I checked the Haynes manual I have and it says 8 ft/lbs. Is it me or is that not very tight? What do you guys/gals have as far as torque specs? David

Hi all, Well plans are afoot to knock out a bit of a stroker engine. I've pretty much finalised the piston spec as above. The low compression height is to help keep the compression to around 10.5:1 and allow plenty of valve clearance without having to machine the piston tops. I've already got an E88 head that's been shaved by 0.030" so compression isn't a problem. Only problem is finding a piston to this spec. So far I've got a quote of £125+VAT each from a company for forged pistons. Yes that is nearly $260  The best bit is that they probably wouldn't be able to deliver for 6 months :sleepy: I'm waiting to hear back from another company but I thought I'd pop over …

Been reading the "How to modify Your Nissan Datsun OHC Engine" By Frank Honsowetz. Reading about valves and their head shape. It says you can get stock valves that have been modified (Numerically Controlled) in the way they are machined. It gives a part number 99996-N1100. I am wondering if anyone knows if these still exist and if so is it worth trying to get a set and paying $$$ or just getting a reputable machinist to cut stock ones the same way? Good book BTW. Gav

A fairly simple question that isn't explained in the Haynes book, et al. I thought that it's supposed to disengage when the air coming through the radiator is 'cool?' Gives more HP while you are at speed, then engages when not rolling along? My fan turns all the time, even right after you start the cold engine. thx

Ok, finally started to mess with the 280..... So far I have changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, noticed a nice improvement all around with the oil change. Defiantely over due. Real bad blow by. Smelt more gas than oil..... Not a good sign. Today I got in my rebuilt air flow meter. Swapped out the old one. Car fired right up. Let it idle for a bit so the computer could adjust. Took her out on the road, first gear responsiveness much improved since the old air flow was gagging at low RPMs....but here's the problem.... Car basically refuses to go faster than 60mph, or over 3000-3500 rpms. I also notice a "puff" of blueish smoke in between shifts. Power…
