Just wondering, a lot of the books I have talk about max compression you can run on the street with pump petrol. The thing is that the pump petrol they were talking about was relatively low (91 octane). These days in my area (australia) we can get 98 octane fuel....so when they say dont run anything above 10:1....would I be safe running maybe something like 10.6:1 ??

I'm trying to get my Z on the road. I have put a lot of new parts in it so far. My biggest headache is getting needles so they will stop running rich. Any ideas?

To increase the performance of my 1972 Z car is an engine/tranny swap from a later model Z a good idea or should I just have the current engine rebuilt and add a 5 spd? What later model Z's engines/transmissions would fit without modifications to my car? thanks Robert Hudson Lakeland, Florida

So the MSA show is coming up soon, and my car is starting to realize it and is giving me a hard time. For the past few weeks in the mornings the car doesn't start for a couple minutes. All I hear is the starter whirring away when I turn the key. Eventually it catches and turns the engine, but I want to track this problem down before it gets serious. The starter is only 6 months old so I'm not sure what the specific problem would be. Also, the other day when I came home the car died as I pulled it in the driveway, and then it wouldn't start for a while but with different symptoms. The engine cranked but never started. It happened today too when I was driving around…

Hey guys, im new to the forum. My little bro just turned 16 and got a '95 z28 camaro...only to wreck it less than a month later. Insurance wont cover it and my dad just bought him another '95 z28 so basically we have a spare camaro in the garage...the frame is tweaked just enough for it to be un-streetable, other than that it is fine. anyway, we want to part out the camaro as best as we can and put the lt1 to good use. We are considering a Z-car swap but i want to get some info and suggestions before we just dive in to this project. We have the tools and space to do this but want some advice from people that have actually done this before. We are purchasing the manu…

I was wondering how hard it is to get the intake manifold off on a fuel injected Z, my intake is leaking and in need of a new gasket. I was looking at it earlier and it looks pretty rough getting in there to get the bolts off, is it attached to the exhaust manifold also. Let me know what you guys think and an easy way to get to those bolts. Thanks

I just picked up a 280zxr for hella cheap but it has two problems, I need to replace the door hinges to the driver side and it needs tranny work. Do any other Z cars Tranny blocks match up to the engine of the zxr or do I have to go through a dealer, also I can just tear the hinges off of another old 79 280zx right because the bodies are the same besides the spoiler?

My 72z has a later model engine and I'm not quite sure how to find out just what year the engine is. I know of the numbers stamped on the passanger side of the block just under the head and I've heard there are also numbers near the engine mount on the driver's side. Does anyone out there have a link to a site that will help me figure out what year my engine is? BTW, it has a N42 head if that narrows it down enough to ID the year. As always thanks for the help, Dan

I found this Roadster on eBay and noticed that the seller says the engine is a Nissan Z engine. It has a crossflow head, One Carb, and 2 plugs per cylinder. Could this be a NAPS-Z engine?? Ebay Roadster-4 Cylinder-8 Plug

I am planning to buy a new radiator for my '72. Have looked at lots of radiator sites and made lots of phone calls. Comming up with a wide range of prices from $260 for a 4 row to $175 for a 3 row. Any advice as to a reputable dealer? Any "best" radiator for street use? Do not need an aluminum unit.
