hi guys, I have just put an l28 in to my 260, after pulling the old blown one out. So far so good right. bought some extractors to fit on and then realised the delema. the extractors and factory exhaust are the same size but I have no way of joining the two together once I bolt the extractors on. The extractors have been cut, it looks like. I thought about cutting the exhaust and then joing the two with a round bit of metal where the two would match up. I dont have welding devices or angle grinders at my disposal. Any ideas? hacksaw? thanks cam finnally found z one

Ok, I can NEVER find the link to Rebello's website when I want it. This time I'm bookmarking it! Can anyone post the link please? Why don't we add this to our Links page? I looked under Z Car Businesses and didn't see it.

I think my 1978 L28 engine still has the EGR valve, according to the picture in the Haynes book. Does on the fuel-injected L28 engine need this? I could probably take it off, but it's supposed to be connected to a "vacuum switching valve"? I was thinking that I could block off the hole where the EGR valve was. Can I get some enlightenment? thx. At least there's no smog pump.

While flipping through the Summit catalog I see the SplitFire 3 spark plugs at $5.99 each. Has anyone used these on their Z and if so, did you notice any difference, then say from the NGKs or whatever other brand you were using? $5.99 is a bit pricey so I would like to know if you guys think they are any better then NGKs.

To my best knowelege the later ZX turbos use the P90 head and F54 Block... So my question is what is the differnce between the turbo f54 short block and non turbo short block ? just the compression ? or does the turbo have forged internals ? because i know the heads are the same

What kind of things can you do to upgrade the ignition system on a 78 280Z? I talked to a guy the hat works on Zs and he told me to use the stock coil because it has higher voltage. I think I would start with the distributor- do they make overhaul kits for that? A Search found only 240Z stuff. Right now I have all the stock stuff and it looks like it might even be original. thx.

I filled up my car today and noticed some leaking from the front end. I found that a small diameter metal tube that parallels the main fuel line (I assume it is the vent line that originally went to the carbon canister) was open at the end and leaking fuel. I've stoped the end with some rubber tubing and a screw, but wanted to know if this was an OK fix. I'm using a 4 barrel carb set-up on an L28 engine in a '73 240z, so all of the emissions equipment has been removed. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looking to put an 83 280ZX engine with a p-90 head in my 240z. The question I have is concerning the hydralic tappets. Will I have as much performance with this engine as with valves that need adjusting?

I went and today to take a look at a l28 and was confused by what i saw. This motor had a Y70 head and and E30 block. But the most interesting thing was that the intake manifold was for a single carburation that faced up and not to the side like the Su's. The motor is all original and has no aftermarket parts on it. Is this a common engine or can some one tell me pros and cons to this engine. I was thinking if it is a good motor then i would just put my SU's on it and use it in my 240z. Thanks in advance to all who answer.

I have a low-miles L28 w/ P79 head. I know that I'm going to add the MSA cam with slalom grind (.480 lift, 260 duration) and headers. I'm undecided on whether to stick w/ fuel injection or switch to triple Webers. With the above mods in place, can I add the carbs later. And if so, is this a good match?
