ok I went with all of your suggestions and got the turbo exhaust from msa , hhm does anyone have a pic of it installed on their car so I can make sure to get on correctly , I know you are saying it only goes on one way but I am sure I can find another way <especially the wrong one> also does the tip have to be welded on at a muffler shop? and is recommend having a muffler shop tack it after I get it bolted in? any thoughts would be great thanks

From what I can tell, this is an age-old problem for Z cars due to the aerodynamics at the rear end... MY CAR STINKS! I have the smell of fuel and/or exhaust fumes, and it's nauseating  I've heard different things about how to fix the problem: 1. longer exhaust tip; 2. seal up all the little holes in the rear floor; 3. check the fuel filler hose that runs to the tank; 4. keep the windows closed and the fan on full. Well that sounds like a lot of work! :stupid: (except for option 4) Can anybody honestly report that they've done any of the above and completely eliminated (or at least noticeably lessened) the smells? Or perhaps you'd like to have a crack at or…

Hi, Hope someone has the answer, I just finished having L 28 block redone. Aftermarket pistons installed but they stick out twenty thou. I have a fully enhanced E31 head all the jewellery. The head has had minor milling twice. According to the machinist the head width is 4.235. Will this work or do I have to flycut the pistons. Thanks, Brain itch

Will an Oldsmobile 350 fit? CAn I go bigger? You know, bigger is better. I thought of an RB, then to a 2JZ, but I think for my budget, I'd have to go with a 350 cid. Any thoughts?:tapemouth

What oils should I use in the engine, gearbox & differential on my ´76 260Z 5 speed. I´ve only had the car a week & I´ve not yet received the worshop manual I´ve ordered. :stupid:

I have located a 83 2+2 Turbo car at a salvage yard. It has a 5 speed and appears to be unmolested. I want to use the 83 as a donor car to build a turbo engine for my 78 but have discovered that it's head is a P90A. I believe the head is a hydraulic lifter head and I will be using a solid lifter cam. Can the P90A head be modified for solid lifters? If not, are P90, solid liter heads readily available and reasonably priced? I need to make a quick decision weather to purchase the 83 or look for another. I can buy this car for $300. Thanks for your input....mayolives

I need to get a new exhaust system as my pipes decided to rust through over the years. I'm on a pretty tight budget and am looking for something that will help out my z. I have a 76 280z with the cat converter. I can get a Nissan exhaust system for $160 but MSA has the "turbo" system for $125 and some guy has been selling Monza exhaust systems on ebay for $137. I only need the pipes past the cat converter and the muffler. Is there anywhere I can find some decent stuff cheaper? And of those and others what do you suggest for a poor kid trying to get his z quiet

What is the proper procedure for doing the timing on a 1978 280z, in the book it just tells you what the timing is, it does'nt tell you if you have to plug the vaccum advance or anything like that. So could somebody help me, Thanks

Is there any one here that knows the difference in the mechanical advance curve in these dist. between the units for a automatic trans and a manual. I know the automatic trans. unit is stamped # 9 and has stiffer springs than the manual stamped #8.5 . I am wondering at what RPM either is going to full advance, and when the vacume advance and the cintrifical starts on each. I have been running a '79 manual model for about 3 yrs on my L-24 , but now I am installing a slightly built 280 and I would like more info. in this area, thanks for any information and or direction as to where I can find it . I am planning on calling in a favor from my old boss who owes me money to have his friend (owns a local machine shop) to refresh my cylinder head (E88) and install a new cam. I was wondering what oddball things he'll need to be especially careful of when redoing this head like not removing the came towers? I know I really should have a shop familiar with Datsuns work on this but hey, it's free?

I recently took off my valve cover off my 73 240z and noticed that the cam had a e30 stamped on it. Is this what all E88 heads have. Sorry if this sound dum but I was wondering if the person before had changed the cam. Thanks in advance to all
