is this supposed to be hooked up to anything other than the small line from my block breather that goes to my manifold, can I remove this as well?

Having problems with my car overheating, I've put in a thermostat because there wasnt one there, Ive got a fan clutch from pick and pull that looked almost brand new because I tried to recondition the fan clutch with what was said on this site but It overheated to much and wouldnt start and when it did start it would just idle rough, the water pump is about a year old. Now the fan clutch that I just got, I checked for easy spin while it was cold but it was kinda hard to turn and then I checked it when it was warm and it turned easier than when it was cold and did not engage. How much should it turn when it is cold, and could this be the problem. Any suggestions would be g…

Hi All, I recently purchased a restorer 1982/02 Mark 2 series 280ZX 2+2. The engine was out and was picked up at a later date by a friend and when unloading it from the trailer I noticed it did not have the traditional square rocker cover normally fitted to series 2 engines, further on examination of the paper work that came with the car, I discovered that the engine number was prefixed by L24 and not L28. On examining the engine sure enough I had a "dead ringer" looks like an L28 but was an L24 bottom end complete with odd offset oil filter mounting and wait for it " a bypass oil cooler hose". What I need to know from the experts is what am I likely to find with this en…

ok if I have read everything on this website correctly , the 280z valves go into an e31 head with no prob and give it better flow correct? I will have to replace the seats to allow for the larger valves I assume, gonna ask the machine shop to do that , any significant advantage to using stainless valves <nismo> as opposed to stock , gonin nuts with this rebuild , thanks jeff:geek:

what would cause my 76 280z to overheat hile idleing? The radiator overflow is filled to the fill line and the radiator hoses are not clogged, but still if i leave the car at idle it will start to heat up i just push on the gas while idle to pull that heat off the motor and eventually the temp goes down. Thanks

Can anyone tell me where to buy the valve cover breather shown in this picture? It looks like a mini k&n filter on the top of the valve cover. http://www.schueracing.com/images/breather.jpg Thanks Mark

Ok, first off this isn't that big of a deal, more of a curiosity. I searched the forums first and didn't turn anything up. I know the older Z's are notorious cold starters. But now that the temp has dropped here in sunny Florida (31 last night), it took 25 minutes to get the engine warmed up enough to drive her. She lives in a garage and I left my shoplight on in the engine bay overnight for added warmth. (Yes I am a little obsessive). I have just recently purchased the SU Videos but haven't had time to tackle the adjustment yet. It runs good when warm, just a little afterfiring. I remembered the Summer/Winter setting on the air filter enclosure. I set it to winter and th…

The throttle on my 280zx daily driver is sticking when i release it recently, enough to hold the car from 1500-2000rpm when idling. Pulling the pedal upwards with my toes or quickly tapping the pedal will release it. Honestly I havent had a good look at it yet, but as far as i can tell it could be one of 3 things: 1. dirty throttle linkage joint somewhere between the pedal and the throttle body? 2. Actual throttle butterfly sticking to throttle body resulting from dirt or warping? 3. Linkage return spring on firewall not tight enough. Now the spring was the easiest to check so i looked and while it doesnt pull the linkage back hard to full extension, it still seems to be …

Anyone have any recommendations on what brand of crank seal might be better quality? I picked up a seal at NAPA for $5 and it says made in Taiwan. I'm a little skeptical about doing all that work and installing a cheap seal. I am putting a Redi-Sleeve on also. Are there any seal brands that are made in the US or Japan(not China or Taiwan)? Thanks, Victor.
