I have what I think is an early 70's aircleaner assy I bought on eBay. (note the manual summer/winter valve) When I put it on, I took the air cleaner element out of the existing 73 assy and it fit perfectly. Later I ordered an new air filter for a 70-71 aircleaner from one of the many Texas online parts places. What came was about 2 3/8" tall which wouldn't fit inside either of my assy's. Turns out the one in there now is just under 2" tall. I've seen a few eBay auctions for filters for early 70's aircleaners and I've asked them to measure the height. All have come back at 2 3/8". So I'm confused about what I have. And more importantly, where do I get a new airfi…

I couldn't find anything in the archives so if there is a thread on this just shot me to it... What are you guys paying for head work. I am considering sending out my spare head to have it redone and wanted to know what you guys are paying for a basic upper end valvejob/machine work. Bw

Yes, the world's biggest FI fan is starting a thread on carbs...get over it! It is out of necessity. I am curious what a Z runs like on triple 40 dcoe's or Mikuni's. I've been around and in quite a few cars with 44's and 50's, so I have a pretty good idea of what THAT is like. Several people have told me not to consider anything under 44. I never realy had paid attention to anything under 44 before, and now that I have started shopping, have discovered 40's are quite plentiful and reasonable. I know without dyno charts, this is an extremely subjective conversation, but am hoping to glean SOME sort of input. What is the performance gains--if any--of triple 40's over …

I had the thought of hiding all those hoses & stuff by putting a functional air cleaner (oval type) on the top of the engine. Would it work and could it be done? I think the most you would need is a bent hose from the filter to the AFM, and some kind of platform for the filter to mount on.

So, in attempting to avoid paying the usurous rate Nissan are asking for a bottom radiator hose for a 240Z (AUD$88!), can anyone tell me if a 260 hose will fit? As these cars are more common in Aus I'm hoping that an aftermarket dealer will be able to help.

Ok so I thought I should ask you guys what I could do to improve my engine set up. I have recently aquired a engine head (E88 Casting). It's basically got the guts of a N42 valves, had a fair amount spent on porting, 76 degree camshaft profile. It will sit on a f54 block most likely dished pistons will check when i put her back together. roughly 10:1 compression. I dunno how to check really I get 180psi across all of cylinders with the current e88 f54 combo on the car. Anyway to my point I'm told it's got roughly 120rwkw. Now that's fine and dandy but I reakon I want more power. I was thinking 3 way valve job, maybe match the intake manifold to the head. Etc.. but what…

I am takingthe heater and A/C out of my car. I hat a little incident with the heater hose today trying to take the heater module out from under the dash, let me just say I felt like It was open heart surgeury on my z... Anyway I got all the coolant drained I want to plug the heater lines fromt eh block and the lower waterneck. I was thinking of just turning the 90* elbow at the back of the block (closest to window) towards the front of the block and then connect it to the other tube coming off the lower waterneck. I dont know if this is feasible but It seemed like it would work to me. Seems like the same system just a 20' line instead of the whole heater system. I …

While searching for a front oil seal for the crank, I noticed there is one brand called Redi-Sleeve that is two or three times as expensive as other brands. Does anyone know why? Is there something special about this brand other than price? Thanks, Victor.
