I have a E-31 Head that I would like to put on an F-54 block. With Manley SS valves, can I get this head to flow as well as a P-90 head? Usually mods, cam, headers, and Mallory. Nothing too radical or too fast. Rick

I have a 1971 240z and I drive up to the mountains frequently but when I go up to the 5000-foot level and higher the engine seems to lack power do to the thinning of the air. For instance, I have to push on the gas more to keep the RPM, it basically feels like a power loss. I have the old stock air intake and was wondering if I had to change it to help the engine breath a bit better. I recently changed the filter but to no avail. I just started restoring this Z and I am a rookie when it comes to engine work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Got what seems to be a dead cyl. in my 83. I checked my Haynes manual and the firing order seems off. I have replaced plug wires, distributor cap, button, plugs. Still seems dead. Thoughts? Thanks. Tim.

hey guys, i will be joining the ranks of a Z owner here shortly (new thread in general forum). but i do have a couple questions. baiscally, is the L6 block in the 240 the same block as the 280? in other words, if i have an original 240 block, can that be bored and factory sized 280 pistons installed? also, what cam/valve options are there for good performance? the plan with the new car is to just pull the motor from the beginning, have the block bored and honed, replace the cam, chain and oil pump and anything else that needs actual attention. anything else you guys suggest might need attention? i just want to get this running as strong as i can on a minimum bu…

This isn't a very big emergency but a litlle help can go a long way. I am trying to replace the Throttle Rod Firewall Boot/Seal and I have a pretty small window of time to try and get it done. Anyone know the quickest way to go about this without having to remove the entire acellerator assembly? I see the little nut inside but everything is so delicate I didn't want to overcrank it and damage it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :classic: Thanks, Darren

Hello i've been considering the RB swap for sometime... i was told by a decently reliable source that the 200zr (z31 300zx) rb20det actually bolts straight onto the 260z.... as opposed to the R32 skyline models which need modified mounts can someone confirm or othewise this!? as i have the oportunity to buy one in hte next few days! Thanks, Charles

Ok i finally got her running on 6cyl after the firing order was wrong. This problem was there before that aswell... I cannot get it too idle at 1000rpm without retarding the timing down insanely..then it runs like $^!#... I got it set at 10 degrees atm which is fine but the idle is at 1500-1750 rpm ..... i havent cheack the throttle body except for air leaks but i wouldnt know what to check besides the air leaks..i checked the air boot thats fine. Now here is a strange thing..i have virtually no blow by when i take off the oil cap thats well and good considering the engine isnt all that old but when i take off the line from the valve cover too the tb and…

HI guys, I am back from school for the weekend and my girlfriend is all tied up with school so that leaves time for the other lady in my life. I think I have recently messed some stuff up on my car (again). Here are my questions. 1. Where do all the hoses on the intake manifold go? They are plugged right now. (I have no smog stuff and weber dgv's) 2. How can I tell if i need new points, rotor etc.? 3. Can I hook my stock distribs vacum advance to my DGV's? (if so where) 4. I try to set the timing but the mech advance on the distributor will not turn that much. Can it be that out of whack? (or maybe I am going for the wrong notch...) 5. Oh and also how DO you you set t…

I have an L28 with the MSA intake mainfold for an Eidlebrock carburetor. All of the pollution controls have been removed. The car runs great, but the crankcase ventilation pipe worries me. It has been capped. It seems to me that I should be getting rid of all of those noxious blow-by products in the crankcase so that they don't gunk up my oil. Any thoughts on this? (I'm using a air filter on the valve cover breather). Thanks in advance,

I just checked the compression in my engine with a compression gauge, holding the carb open and the throttle flat to the floor with a warm engine. Came up at 100 in all cylinders. Is this good for a stock L28 with a 8.3:1 static compresion ratio? I have a feeling it should be higher. Any ideas?
