Ever since I got my Z back on the road I've noticed liquid coming out of the exhaust. I don't mean the occasional drip, I mean if I leave the car running in the same spot for 5 minutes a small black puddle will start forming from the spray. It doesn't smell like fuel, it's not clear like water (I'm not loosing coolant), and it's too thin to be oil. Any ideas on how to stop this??? It's made my Supertrapp muffler turn black with crap all over it and it's just driving me nuts!

I'm talking top-to-bottom on a stock L24 by a Z expert. Valves, carbs, dizzy, all filters. I'm considering have a pro do my Z cuz I'm a newb and I just don't seem to be able to get it right. My mileage sucks and he claims he can get me 25mpg. In the long run it would be worth a few hundred for a tune. How much do you think a complete tune will cost?

Does anyone know of a product that I can coat polished parts of the engine bay with? eg Intake, carb tops etc. It'll obviously need to withstand the underbonnet heat without any discolouration or flaking etc? I heard somewhere about a polyurethane based product but havent heard anymore about it. Anyone got any ideas/experiences? Cheers

I have recently purchased '72 240 with a '73 engine. I noticed a rattling sound and found that I have an additional wheel in front of the wheel comming out of the engine that does not have a belt on it. (Possibly for an AC unit thet the 72 doesn't have) This wheel is very loose, but not loose enough to pull off by hand. My question is this; How is it supposed to be attached? A center bolt? There are also two holes that line up with two nipples on the wheel that connects to the engine. Are those possibly screw holes. And would it be better to just remove it? Or does it act as a counterbalance? I am not a mechanic by any stretch. This is my daily driver so before …

Can anyone let me know whether it is reasonably possible and advantageous to install the Bosch fuel injection system off of a '76 280 ZX onto a '73 240 Z? I've got a decent degree of mechanical aptitude and good access to any equipment that I might need, but am I better off to just set my sights on a set of round top SU's and manifold from a '70-'72? I can pick up the ZX for $100 and use other parts anyway, just wanted to know if the FI is worth the effort. Thanks, Driftin John

I'm gonna be one of those guys who switches from points and was looking for input on Pertronix. Is II better? Can original tach be used? I've got a 71 240, stock w/ header. Are there better options?

As a few of you would have read in my other post, i got the sitting motor started just fine, almost too fine, which is what brings me to this. The 260z with L28E i got running runs about 5 times harder than my 280zx daily driver. I know the 260z has a better head and its lighter, but the power difference is much more than this. I had gotten grudgingly used to the 280zx but this has opened my eyes to what its lacking, the 280zx is slow to pick up once you put the foot down and doesnt like to rev much over 3000-4000rpm, it makes more noise up there but not any more acceleration. Ideas on what could be wrong? It has an electronic distributor so it shouldnt be the case but i …

What sort of benefits/problems are inherent with a lost spark ignition system? Has anyone here used the SDS ignition? What sort of trouble and/or success have you had with it? Did you combine it with their fuel injection? With another fuel injection? Thanks in advance, Chris

I have a 71' engine and was wondering if all engines have timing marks on the crankshaft pulley because mine does not seem to. I looked in Haynes and it shows the timing marks but on mine it has the arrow on the block and a notch on the pulley. I've tried using a timing light to line up the arrow and the notch but the closest it gets is about 3 to 4 inches away from the left of the arrow. Is the notch 0 degrees or am I supposed to line them both up? I was going to try static timing it but without any gauge I didn't know where to start. I had posted before about this and someone mentioned that the oil pump might might be a tooth off. I just wanted to double check everythin…
