Hello folks Can anyone suggest a good wrecking yard, or such where I can pick up a complete L6 engine that I can rebuild for my 71z ?? I'm thinking about maybe swapping a 280 Turbo in place of the normal L6. But I need a reputable yard that can give me the option of either or, to start at.... Thanks

Recently changed to synthetic oil, Syntec 5W50 from Castrol 20W50. 77 280z has 37k original miles. Engine has good compression and works well. But, has started to show a little oil smoke when rpm > 4500, none below. Oil consumption is 1 liter (qt) /2500 miles. Switch to synthetic probably losened some dirt/varnish that has caused the oil rings to stick allowing some high rpm blowby. Pcv valve is good. Considering an engine flush to free up/clean oil rings. Any experience or recommendations re my situation/strategy?? Thanks!

I have a 73 240z that leaks oil when the engine is running. It does not seen to leak when the engine is off. A friend told me that this was a spesific symptom of a leak at the oil pump, and that I should look in to replacing it. Has any one heard of this before? And couldn't the oil stop leaking when the engine is off because there is no pressure in the system, therefore the leak could be anywhere? thanks Madsoul

Well, I am all ready to buy my long awaited exhuast "package" I wanted to purchase MSA 3 into 2 headers, as well as the Twice Pipes exhuast setup. However, I wanted to see if there were any drawbacks or "cons" about purchasing the twice pipes exhuast. What is so special about glass-pack mufflers, and on average how long do they keep their "tone"? MSA also never specified if the twice-pipes exhuast was 2.5" or 2.25", does anyone know off hand? Another thing .... how will may cat converter fit with this piping? Would I go w/o a cat converter? Finally.... is there any performance differences between 6 into 1 headers and 3 into 2 headers?

Can someone tell me where the OE electric fuel pump is located? The z I just bought has an elec. pump in the engine bay which seems to be aftermarket and not OE. Trying to find out what it is. This pump is attached to a relay which turns on/off with the ignition. This relay looks aftermarket as it's wired inbetween the pump and battery. I found out the relay is dead today, so I have to get a new one but don't know what to order. The relay I took out of the harness says 16A. Summit has a harness with a 30A relay for like $30, but is this too big should I stick with 16A? Also is the pump suppose to adjust the amount of fuel the engine get's depending on the engines need …

Ok, I am now going with my stock block\head combo( Now that I know it is the matching # for my ZROFL ). I have no plans what so ever of putting my Z on the road in anything other then nice weather :stupid: So there gose my need for the heater. I am also putting the SU's off to the side for fuel injection. This may sound :stupid: but I feel with the Z less can be more (as far as headaches go) so why not block off the unused water passages? like the lines for the heater core and the coolant lines for the intake. I guess where I am going with this is. Has anyone else here done this ? If so what type of plug was used for the heater line hole at the back of the head? Ho…
